Yet another week
Oh my, this week has really gone past so quickly. I only just realised that I haven't updated this blog for a week now!
Here, I convey my apologies to those who derive some sort of entertainment or pleasure from reading my blog:)
Anyhow, time has been passing by so quickly, which is something good, and yet bad at the same time.
Good: Before I know it, I'll be taking a train down to Bromsgrove to meet Jiejie Aileen, Richard and Jack! I will get to spend time with them, enjoy non-hall food for about 4 days, check out Legoland. And, before I know it, I'll be going back to Singapore for Christmas!
Bad: Sunday will come, my stay at jiejie Aileen's home will end, and it will probably be my last time staying with them in Bromsgrove as they will be moving to Singapore - I am going to miss them so much (or maybe I'll miss the thought that I have relatives somewhere in the UK to whom I can run to for help). And before I know it, exams and essays will be due.
Now then, highlights of my week:
- Wednesday afternoon CHINESE lunch: I was really craving for sweet and sour pork. So, sweet and sour pork I got. Oh, thank God there are Chinese restaurants in Beeston. Now, I just need to have Japanese food.
- Wednesday night 'meet-up' with my immediate neighbours: I FINALLY met and had a proper conversation with my immediate neighbours. The girl on my right is Beth, studying medicine. The guy on my left is Oli. They seemed nice.
- Wednesday night Nine20 group meeting: reminds me so much of my Young Adult cell group in LSBC, which can make me a little homesick. But it was great getting together with other Christians in my hall.
- Friday afternoon shopping at Beeston: There aren't many shops. Tzen, Trang and I went into one charity store, where Tzen bought a top that she really likes. I bought a feel-good, chick-lit book, even though I knew I already have so many law books and cases to read up. Then I helped Tzen and Trang pick boots, heels and pumps at a shoe shop. I really liked a few pairs of shoes in the shop but they didn't have my size (which might have been a blessing in disguise - that way I won't be tempted to buy shoes). We then walked to Beeston Train Station just to find out where it is, and I bought my tickets to Bromsgrove. The shopping trip ended at Sainsbury's, where we bought stuff we needed (and I bought a cute, bright-coloured Winnie The Pooh notebook to feel happier).
- Friday night Equip (Christian Union) meeting: I don't know more than half the songs and I still can't get used to their style of worship, but the 2 preachers I have heard so far have been good. At least they're teaching from the bible, not some airy-fairy stuff. I almost didn't go to this meeting because I felt a little "under the weather" emotionally as it began to dawn on me that jiejie Aileen and family are leaving. Thank God I dragged my butt out to attend this meeting though, because I felt so much happier with Katy and my other Nine20 people. And, after the meeting, I walked back with this British girl called Christine. She is also yet another person I can call my friend now. We may even become housemates come next school year.
- Saturday night movie 'outing': A few of us (again I was the only Asian) gathered in Katy's room to watch "Northanger Abbey" and the first episode of BBC's "Pride and Prejudice".
- Sunday morning service at Grace Church: If I compare Grace Church and LSBC worship-wise, LSBC wins hands down, absolutely no doubt about it. Oh God, I want to go back to LSBC and enjoy the worship. The sermon was actually rather good and I 'kinda' liked it. Week after next, I will go back to Grace Church for a second "feel". I really want to settle down into a church, like, soon.
- Sunday night after-dinner chat with Katy: This new British friend of mine may tend to talk "alot alot", but she is so caring and encouraging. She has her own strong opinions in regards to certain issues of Christianity that I may disagree a little, but at the same time, I don't really know how to convince her of my side of the argument. So I'm just leaving it as that. Debating will get us no where anyway. I just thank God for her.
Ok. Reading time.
