another week

Saturday night was the highlight of my weekend - a Bridget Jones marathon.

After dinner, Katy, Sarah, Christine and Loretta came over to my room and we watched Bridget Jones 1 and 2 over cups of tea and chocolate biscuits. The DVDs were happily provided for by Sarah. During this marathon, 2 funny things involving my neighbour, Olly (I think this is his nickname? I'm not sure. I've never had a proper conversation with him in my entire life), took place, and made me oh-so-glad that I had these 4 British girls in my room with me on Saturday night:

1) Katy went to the bathroom and on her way back, she bumped into Olly. He asked her, "Were you in my room?" Katy just played along, replying, "Yeah, of course!" He just returned with a "Oh! Cool ok!" or something like that. Katy said he seemed a little drunk.

2) There was a knock on my door. I just said, "Who's that?" and the door was pushed open because I hadn't locked it and it wasn't closed properly. Olly peered in, and I saw that he held a bottle of beer in his hand. I asked, "Erm... yes?" To which he answered, "Hi! I'm Olly, I'm your neighbour. This guy is Francis. He lives downstairs." I didn't really know how to react to this sudden, rather drunk introduction. So I just said, "Oh right, hi. I'm Lynn." Thankfully, the next thing he said was, "Oh ok. Well, I'll leave you to enjoy your movie then." And he closed the door. It was only about 9pm and he was already drunk?

Oh, another interesting thing that happened during our marathon just came to mind:
3) There was a knock on the door so I went to open it. A British girl stood outside holding 2 tops in her hands. One was white in colour, the other a cream-coloured top. She said, "Hi! I thought you were watching Bridget Jones! Anyway, I heard girls' voices in here so I thought I'd just knock and ask... Can I put these 2 pieces of clothing into the washing machine together? Because this isn't exactly white." We then told her it's all right because both are light coloured. She then thanked us and we closed the door. And continued with our movie.

Hall life can be rather interesting and... strange. haha

Our next movie marathon will be: BBC's Pride and Prejudice. (WHERE IS MY MR DARCY! Come and save me please, Mr Darcy!)

As for Sunday (yesterday), I went to Cornerstone in the morning and went back to Christian Centre (aka T-Street) in the evening. After the evening service, we (Katy, Sarah, Justin, Hannah and I) stayed back to meet other people in the Impact Lounge. We only left the church at about 10pm, and got back at 10:20pm. It was a tiring day, but felt good to go to a church and worship God.

But I really miss LSBC. The worship (the keyboard)... the sermons... LSBC has good worship and good sermons. But it seems like I won't be able to find a church that is balanced and good in both areas over here in Nottingham. Pete, one of the seniors in FB, told me that in Nottingham, you either get good worship and poor sermons, or poor worship and good sermons here. My heart sank when I heard him say that.

Today, it seemed like a particularly long day. Maybe it is because I didn't sleep enough last night. I was also woken up at an unearthly 2:30am this morning by a corridor-mate banging on Olly's door, so, annoyingly loudly. It didn't help that she was also shouting, "OLLY! Open up! OOOORRRRRR-LEEEEEEEEE!". I really wonder how I fell asleep again.

The weather today was pleasant, so we sat outside Portland Building in the field to have our sandwich-lunches. Po Yew wanted to sit on the grass, but there was goose and squirrel shit all over the grass so we ended up sitting on a bench.

In the photo on the left, you see the shapes of Gordon, Po Yew and Janice (from left to right). I was walking back to the bench with Angie after we bought our newspapers needed for tomorrow's seminar when I took both shots.
