We're Back At Proverbs 31

It's so hard to believe that it's the last day of 2010! So many things, good and bad, have happened this year. I'm thankful I got through this year with God's grace, especially with all the changes and transitions. And so because we're at the last day of 2010, it means reading about The Noble Woman of Proverbs 31 in the One Year Bible. This year, what caught my eye out of all these verses is Proverbs 31:26: "When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness." If I have New Year Resolutions (which I don't because I think they don't mean much and I've year-and-life-long 'resolutions'), one of them is definitely to be kinder and gentler with my words even as I try to be more patient with all people and situations I meet. Thank you, 2010. Here goes, 2011. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Christmas Part 1

Image
Because I was in Nottingham, I have not spent the past two Christmases in Singapore. Now that I'm back in Singapore for this first Christmas since graduation, it is something I need to get used to again. Just as life in Nottingham was less busy as compared to life in Singapore, so Christmas in Nottingham was alot quieter and less hectic as compared to Christmas in Singapore... So far for this Christmas, I have eaten 2 log cakes. The first one is from Awfully Chocolate. It was part of a gift hamper to LCP: The second one is a log cake to the family from Uncle See Chuan and Aunty Cerina: Yesterday - Christmas Eve - I still had to go to LCP for a half-day of work before we had our Christmas party at 12:15pm. I finally managed to leave the house early enough to catch the same train as Tina. When we got to the office, we were surprised to see many small gifts on the table! Here is Tina at the reception desk with her presents: After hanging out with Tina for a bit downstairs, I finally d...

Dec 2010 so far

Image
December has been a very interesting and eventful month for me so far. I don't have pictures for everything, but trust me when I say it has been very interesting, and very enjoyable. Besides the whole thing about starting work at my dad's firm, where I will be working until at least 31 May, I've also had a lot of new experiences and met new people. There were things that happened in the first two weeks of December, but I'm just going to start from last week. 11 Dec, Saturday: Christmas@Kovan For the first time, my church, LSBC, was offered the opportunity to hold an event at the old bus interchange at Kovan. We could tell the Christmas story, share testimonies of God's goodness and what Christmas means to us as Christians, and we could sing Christmas carols and even Christian praise and worship songs in a public place! We thank God for such a wonderful opportunity to let the community hear us and God's story like this! I also had a lot of fun attending the whole...

Singapore-Taiwan TV collaborations

Image
There is a series of TV dramas these few weeks on Channel U. It features Singaporean and Taiwanese actors and actresses. They film it like movies that don't show on the cinema, but head straight to the television set instead - Channel U calls them "feature films". Tonight's 'instalment' was entitled "爱情折扣"("Love Discount" as a literal translation I think?). It starred Felicia Chin from Singapore, and Wang Chuan Yi (王传一) from Taiwan. Celeste Chong from Singapore was also one of the supporting actresses in tonight's feature film. The storyline was decent and very predictable, as it usually is with all drama serials. But it did not make me cringe in horror or discomfort, as it tends to be the case with alot of our local 7pm or 9pm Channel 8 dramas. The quality was actually not bad for a local(-ish, because of the Taiwanese involvement) production! And we all liked the dress Felicia Chin was in for most of the show, because this show was on...

FB girls!

(It's been a loooong while since I last blogged isn't it! I really need to get back into the habit of blogging and not procrastinating any longer... Anyway, I am just going to do a short one for now.) Recently, I've been able to meet two people I made friends with in my first semester at Nottingham: Erica and Tzen - all within one week! Erica is from Hong Kong. She was an undergraduate in an Australians uni doing on an exchange programme to Nottingham uni when I met her at Florence Boot Hall. After my 1st semester in Nottingham, she returned to Australia to finish up her degree, went on to do her Masters, then returned to Hong Kong, where I met her recently during my family holiday there! The guy in the photo is Erica's boyfriend, Ryan. He also went to Nottingham on exchange with her at the same time so I know him too. It was SO good to meet up with the two of them after so long! Yee Tzen is from Brunei. I also first met her in Florence Boot Hall. She was doing a degree...

Under the excuse of "I'm starting work soon"

Image
I have gotten just enough of my dark eye rings and big eye bags, and I want to try makeup (e.g. concealer) to make it less obvious. And, I'm starting work soon - should try to look more professional by putting just a leeeettle bit of makeup, I think. Thus, I went shopping with Faith and Boon Yeow yesterday. Faith got all her makeup from The Face Shop, so I followed in her footsteps and got makeup from The Face Shop too. I'm now a member of The Face Shop! I bought the more basic makeup from the same place, save for the mascara from Guardian and the blusher brush from The Body Shop. So, some of the things I bought: I need to start practicing how to put on makeup for myself now:( And, one of the two main things I learnt yesterday is that I have 'combination skin' - my face looks dry, but actually inside it is very oily. And I get breakouts/pimples very easily, which is something I have noticed alot more now that I'm back in Singapore:( I also ordered a new pair of spec...
