Thursday!

Image
Before I say anything else, let me say this: HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUMMY! I am honoured, privileged and blessed to call you my mum and I think you're a SUPER MUM! May you continue to grow in God's grace and beauty, and age so so SO gracefully!:) I sent a big, kiddy birthday card to my mum, and I am still very amused by it whenever I think about it. On the front it says, "Happy birthday mummy, you're so yummy", and inside, it's just full of pink and hearts... I also did not realise how big it was until I had sealed it up and happened to put it on Hippo so that I would not forget to send it out. Now, in other news... It was Tzen's birthday yesterday. So Trang, Tzen and I met for lunch. From school, we took a bus into town to have dimsum! The place we went to for dimsum is called China China Chinese Restaurant (or something like that). It was a new discovery for me as, all this while, I've always only gone to New Ocean City Cantonese Restaurant whenever I wanted...

82, and counting

So, I've finished the textbook readings required of me for this Thursday's Mental Health Law seminar! 82 pages down! WHOO! Yesterday night, and for the whole of today, I was just reading and reading the Mental Health Law textbook. There were so many new words that I came across as well, such as this word: Vituperative = bitter and abusive I was reading and reading when, last night, it came to a point where my brain wasn't really functioning that well. I read "Evidence a choice" as "Evidence a choke", and for the next 2 paragraphs, I was wondering why there is a section in the textbook on evidencing a choke when it is a chapter to do with mental capacity and the ability to consent and make decisions! Then I realised, it wasn't evidencing a choke, it was evidencing a CHOICE, which makes so much more sense. Mental Health Law is really interesting, but when it's reading for work, it can get really painful. However, the textbook is easy to comprehend,...

A little bit more snow

Image
If you're wondering whether I woke up today (Monday) to see snow, I did. Less than Sunday morning, but still some white on the ground. One other random news, I had delicious garlic bread and lasagne for lunch today! This semester, Monday lunches at Mooch after Trusts Law lecture with a few other Singaporeans seems like it is becoming a norm. However, all too soon, all this will be over and I'm really not sure as to whether we'll stay in touch like this when we're back in Singapore... Probably not! Anyway, I'm seriously overeating... I desperately need to curb myself!

Snow is pretty to look at, but WHERE IS SPRING

Last night, I was deliberating between attending the 9am or the 11:15am service. If I attended the 9am service and went home straight after, that would give me more time to read my law stuff. But, I kinda decided I would be attending the 11:15am service today with 'the usual gang'. However, John told me that he was going to attend the 9am service with Jon Cheong. So I thought, since I have company to the 9am service now, I'll attend the 9am service instead. I woke up at 6:30am, had a good bath and the usual breakfast. And, this scene greeted me when I woke up! Snow! IN FEBRUARY! The weather has gone seriously crazily mad. It must have snowed REALLY heavily or constantly throughout the night because there was a lot of snow for a place like Nottingham. Even the PVC roof of our conservatory, which is usually semi-transparent, was entirely covered by snow: Then, at 8am, John told me that Jon Cheong wasn't feeling well so he wouldn't be going to church. As for John, he d...

Song Discovery

I discovered this soothing, touching, meaningful song from the 2009 album from City Harvest Church. The song title is "For Janelle (Whom Jesus Loves)", and the album name is "Writings on the Walls". I love the lyrics, and I love the piano arrangement. I tried looking for the lyrics on the internet but couldn't find any! But it would be great if you could just have a listen to this song and really hear the words, I find them very meaningful.

Mad Rush To Thursday

Image
Every Thursday, when I reach home from school, I heave a big sigh of relief. Thursday is my 'heaviest' day in school where I have my Mental Health Law and Policy seminar from 11-1, then Japanese from 2-4. It is the seminar preparation that makes me put off most things to Thursday evening. This week's seminar, in particular, has ALOT of reading. I have been losing sleep over the readings, trying to complete as much as possible before the seminar today, but still I went into class feeling completely unprepared. Now that Thursday is over and the weekend is here, I am more relaxed now. And hopefully I can get a little bit more sleep. It doesn't help that Wednesday nights are Small Group Meeting Nights that I have to set aside time for, not only for the meeting itself, but before the meeting as well, to pray and prepare and just think through things. In addition, I have been trying to update my CV as I do up applications for training contracts and the Part A Bar Course and E...

I miss...

I miss having ready access to CNY goodies. But, there are some being sold in Fresh Asia, so I have to content myself with whatever I can find! I got this on Friday: But now hz and I are really craving for bak kwa. I never knew I would wish for bak kwa this badly! When my parents asked if I wanted them to bring up bak kwa in December, I stupidly thought I would be able to 'survive' without bak kwa this time around. But, now, I'm really missing it:( I miss the feeling of not having to do work. 'CNY mood' is an excuse to not do work. But I can't rely on that excuse because readings are piling up. So, the whole of yesterday, I was struggling through a chapter of 'Remedies against a Trustee for breach of Trusts', with Hippo as my book stand, and typing out notes on my cool-looking mac book pro: I miss having easy access to places that could replace watch batteries at a cheaper rate than here in the UK . I was getting ready to go to Jon Cheong's house for ...
