My Week of Slacking. Well, 4 days at least.

Image
I ended work at my dad's law firm last Friday, 25th July, and will be starting my internship at Rajah & Tann tomorrow morning, 1st August. My weekend was a slow uneventful one. My week has been a fulfilling one. I didn't sit around at home the whole day in front of the TV rotting away as a couch potato. Well, there was one day where I spent the entire afternoon in front of the TV, but otherwise it's always a few hours at a time and ONLY a few hours at a time in one day. Monday night: Wii 'Training Session' with One-Thirders Now you must be wondering why we took a picture with the bag and cushion in the foreground... Well... it's a clique secret (I think). I'll have to kill you if I tell you. Tuesday: Morning run; Lunch with John, PY & Tzen Tzen visited Singapore over the weekend and I arranged to meet up with her and as many of the other people. In the end, it was just her, me, John and py. We had lunch at Sakae Sushi at OUB Centre so that John could...

Start and End with 'A'

I was talking to a new friend from my dad's law firm when we realised that the names of many, many countries started and ended with the letter 'a'. He challenged me to think of a name that started with 'a' but did not end with an 'a', failing which I would have to buy him one of those pancake-waffle thingys from Prima Deli. It was a loooong while before I thought of Afghanistan. Otherwise it was Angola, Argentina, Australia, Austria... Now that I'm back home and able to go on the internet, I went on wikipedia and realised that almost all the countries listed in the 'A' category began AND ENDED with 'a'! All except for Afghanistan and Azerbaijan. AZERBAIJAN? Where is that right? Read all about it on wikipedia here (I am perfectly willing for you to call me stupid or a 'sua ku', but I didn't even know that such a place called Eurasia existed). Oh ok, Eurasia is not a "place" per se. More about it: Eurasia is a large la...

Catchup Ketchup!

I haven't updated for a really long time eh? Anyway, on 13 July, Sunday, the Elders and Elders' wives held a farewell dinner for Uncle Yew Kong and Aunty Tiak as the two of them, together with Victor, will be moving over to the US on a long term basis. The food was good, the company was great and the evening was bittersweet. I met up with Victor, my childhood friend, someone I have not seen in the longest time. I will always remember the times way back in the past when, at church, we would sit in the first row with our parents. We would kneel/sit on the floor, pens scattered on the floor and chair in front of us, using the chair as a 'table' that we could place our notebooks to write on as we took notes during the sermons. After church, we would usually hang out at my house, playing all kinds of imaginative games. It was nice to have a little catchup with him at the dinner. While we had a good time together, the goodbyes eventually had to be said and felt deep in the he...

Holiday to Hokkaido (I)

Image
The family holiday was a GRREAT success and enjoyment for ALL of us! We had the wonderful planner in my sister and the fabulous driver and navigator in my brother. Then there was the irreplaceable financial provider and supporter in my father and the careful packer in my mother. If you want to ask me the most difficult question ever about this holiday, this would be it: "What is the most memorable thing about the trip?" To make it easier for me, use the plural word "things" instead please. In the ten days that we were in Japan, we took many, many photos. So much so that I do not have a clue as to how to categorise and which to show out of all of them. Therefore, I am going to group them very generally and if you want the details, you can leave a comment with your question or you could simply email me. Anyhow, the First instalment of photos for you to view come from the DSLR camera, my sister's Lumix and Canon cameras as well as my Lumix camera. HERE GOES! FOOD :...

1) 10 Promises to my dog [Japanese] The moment I saw it in the inflight entertainment magazine on JAL when traveling back to Singapore from Japan, I knew it would be a really sad movie that would end up in me crying at many parts of the movie - as it is with all movies about dogs, or basically pets in general. I was right. Tears streamed down my eyes and I was sniffing away, trying to keep it as quiet and low key as possible so that I wouldn't attract too many weird stares. At one point in time, they had served dinner and I looked like I was crying over my dinner or something... So, if you need to do some crying, watch this show. Besides being a MAJOR tearjerker, it is heartwarming - all in all, a good show, despite the fact that it was embarrassing to cry as hard as I did. If you are a fan of dogs, you absolutely NEED to watch this show. You'll be left swooning over the incredible "cuteness" of the dog. Sigh, I want Keller back. 2) Naoka [Japanese] This is one inspir...
