One-quarter through but off to Japan!

Jien and I were walking towards the classroom we were having Math tutorial at when she said something like, "We're one-quarter through JC life". My Goodness. Time reeeaaalllllyyy flies! I still recall myself dragging myself out of bed to go for school during the first 3 months. Actually, I still drag myself out of bed, until now. And probably for the rest of my life as a JC student. To think that I was trying to decide between Poly and JC, trying to convince myself really badly that JC was the right route for me... oh well. I also want to say that I'm so grateful for such fabulous classmates like Tina and Jien. They make going to school so much more worth it and fun! Thanks fellow members of the TDT! Yes, I'm about packed for my family holiday to Japan! It's mixed feelings for me actually. I don't want to go overseas for such a long period of time because that would mean that, not only will I miss the first 2 exhilarating weeks of the Great Singapore Sale,...

2nd last day to June Hols!

Today, we had a 2nd Dark Trio outing! Unashamedly put, I ponned Chinese. While waiting in the caf with Jien and Tina, we decided to make a trip down to Harbourfront to eat ice-cream. Jien and I have been wanting to bring Tina to Dairy Queen for quite some time now. BUT, when we got there, we were dismayed to find Dairy Queen closed and under construction. I hope it's just renovations. Because if Dairy Queen is forever gone from Harbourfront, it is complete bollocks. Anyhow, we went to Macs instead and had a fun time there. Tina had to go buy xxl chicken, leaving Jien and I to wait for her at Macs. We were sitting there for a few minutes when Jien decided we hide from Tina. So we exited Macs the other exit, where Tina couldn't see us leaving. Then we hid and watched out for Tina. This was our plan: 1) Once Tina was done, we would make sure she went into Macs to find us missing. 2) When she walks out the other entrance, we would run back to our original table and pretend that we ...

Corinne May makes a Great Day

Image
Today, I reached home early again, around 3.30pm. I didn't swim though, because I was just too sleepy. So I took a bath, did an hour of Math questions, which only turned out to be 5 questions that I didn't solve, only attempted :( , then I slept! For one and a half hours ! It was marvellous ! I've been seizing many opportunities to catch up on sleep. Sunday evening, I slept for two solid, fantastic hours! It was heavenly! Anyhow, to top off this good day, my intention of only borrowing one CD from my sister became my borrowing THREE CDs. One of them got me all excited! My sister bought the CD without my knowing! What a pleasant surprise! "Ta-da!!" I wonder which country she was in when taking the photo. Love her coat! :) Haha, I was watching "Chase" last Thursday when I saw the advert. Ooh I got so excited I quickly told my sister to watch out for it, and I also smsed Jien at the same time. Hopefully you can tell by now that Jien and I really like Corinn...

Half Cheesy Day *sniffles*

Today is Tuesday. Remember The Dark Trio's themed Tuesdays ? Well, today was supposed to be "Cheese Day". But out of the 3 of us, I was the only one who brought something that had cheese in it. Nevermind, it's all right. Despite me being the only one who brought cheesy food stuff, it was a relatively good day because Mrs Lim decided to give everybody a half day! Oh! What JOY! Tuesdays are one of my longest days besides Thursdays. I end at 4.45 on both Tuesdays and Thursdays. Besides, this would be the 2nd time in a row that I miss the Human Geog Test! So happy! With the half day (dismissal at 12.45), I could go for tuition at 2 instead of 5 and reach home at 5 instead of 8pm! BUT. Ooh the big nasty word that turns everything around... BUT. I only say "relatively good" because from the very first lesson today, which was Econs lecture, I was suffering from a runny nose. I'm not sure if it was because of my sinus acting up again, or it is just me falling ...

Linen's Boutique

Yesterday, 4 gal-friends of mine named Amy, Joanne, Elizabeth and Shu En came over after lunch (which was after church). Elizabeth and Shu En needed to borrow some clothes from me because they are graduating from bible school this Thursday. They don't have smart casual clothes, but I do. So they looked through my cupboard and tried on many pieces of clothing in the "dressing room" that actually connects Linen's Boutique to her sister's "store". They finally made up their minds on which ones they will wear to their graduation ceremony. I can't wait to see them on Thursday! I told them we HAVE to take photos together! Then I shall show my "models" off! ;) Anyhow, after they chose their clothes, we sat around in my room and Amy told us the entire story of "House of Wax". It sounds like a very gruesome show. Anyway, I'm not one who has the guts to watch horror movies or thrillers. I get reeeaaalllly freaked out.

They lived happily EVER AFTER

Image
Happy Vesak Day! :) It has been a rather boring day for me. I woke up this morning, had a swim after breakfast, then started doing homework. I attempted my Lit PC Tutorial and gave up after leaving a lot of blanks. Then I began my GP essay. It's due tomorrow and along with the essay, there must be the outline of the essay. I took a S-DUPER long time to complete it. By the time I was done with my essay, my parents wanted to have lunch. So the 3 of us, my sister and brother both had gone out already (what a fun life they lead), walked to the hawker centre at the mall nearest to my house. After a nice lunch of Chicken Rice, I returned home to complete my GP essay. I took FOREVER to finish it. By the time I was done, it was almost 4.30pm! Horror upon horrors! Feeling very disappointed with myself for being so unproductive, I consoled myself by watching "Ever After". I asked my maid to go out to VideoEzy to rent it for me since I couldn't find the vcd at home. :( When my p...

A Fetish for Older Men

Image
Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not dating an older man or something like that. I was just telling my best friend, Jolene, at cell group on Friday night that I've "fallen in love" with yet another older man. All along, I have loved... Colin Firth! I must admit this isn't a nice photo of him. I chose this picture because of the words "TV Heart throb" on it. Here's another one of him to convince you of his charms . How's this? I think he looks the MOST charming when he smiles. However, I shall not post anymore pictures of him. I think it is getting a leeetle bit too much. So, all along I have loved Colin Firth. He is absolutely charming in movies such as Bridget Jones Diary 1 and 2. And "Pride and Prejudice". It's a BBC drama production. He is S-duper charming in that show! There is one scene where he jumps into a lake for a swim. Whoo! BUT, on top of Colin Firth, here comes another guy... Park Shin-Yang (The guy, not the girl). This s...

The Dark Trio

Image
And the Dark Trio comprises of... *drum roll* Tina, Jien and I! Why? All 3 of us are so tan! We're all about the same shade! We made this discovery at our first outing together yesterday night. We had a movie date with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. Over 'ang ku kueh', 'nine-layered kueh' and Ruffles BBQ chips, we viewed this movie: I've watched this show a MILLION times. So many times that I can even tell what is the next line the actor/actress is about to say. However, it's still so funny everytime I watch it. Also, I spot new little things whenever I watch the movie. For example, I noticed that in the scene where Meg Ryan enters Fox Bookstore after her store closes down and she walks through the shelves of books in the children's section, I caught sight of really cute Tigger soft toys! Yes, we never stop learning. Before we began our movie, Jien and I met up, shopped at Cold Storage, then ate at Thai Express. Tina had to rush down to town to get something do...

Trip home with Tina Mama

Today, I went home from school with Tina and we made sure we slept earlier on the train. Last Thursday, we told ourselves we would sleep right from the start of our train ride, which is at Harbourfront MRT. But we talked and laughed about all kinds of stuff, and ended up only sleeping at Potong Pasir station. Today, again, we said we would nap right from the start of our train ride... guess what? We only slept just as the train was pulling out of Clarke Quay Station. A slight improvement I supposed. Although I have this sneaky suspicion that Tina was smsing even after Clarke Quay Station. So we didn't get to accomplish our "napping business". But we got to spend time with Barry Manilow! Ok, so maybe not with the actual person. But his songs count as well. Which reminds me, I should blog about the 2 songs that "belong" to me, Jien and Tina, let's leave this for later though. Meanwhile, we also decided that we would always buy something to munch on as we walk...

Swimming at 4pm

Image
I'm usually home latest 8pm on school days. However, today was completely different. For once, I had no cca, no tuition, and no one to go out with because everybody else had something on. So I left school for home at 3pm. Ain't that early? I reached home and figured since I've so much time on my hands, which is fantastic, I went for my usual swim. Except this time, I wasn't swimming in the evening when the sun had set, I was swimming with the sun still high up in the sky. I finished my laps and got out of the pool, which was when I realized how... attractive my pool looked in the sun. I just had to take a photo of it to show you guys so that you can appreciate it with me. My swimming pool! So nice right? ;) Although I must say that when I took this photo, the sun had begun to set so you don't see the shadows cast on the water by the sun. It truly was B-E-A-Utiful. Just looking at the photo makes me feel like jumping into the pool again. BUT. I shall contain myself ...

Last night, I switched on the tv at 10, wanting to watch "Miss Match" on Channel 18. But I was disappointed to find that "Miss Match" was replaced by "Miss USA 2005" just for this week. The models were definitely stunning but I lost interest after awhile, I'd much rather watch "Miss Congeniality". I began to do some channel surfing when I stumbled upon the dramatised version of the Japanese movie "Quill" on channel 56. I stopped surfing channels. Quill just caught my eye. Just look at him! I found this picture on the web I did not watch the whole movie of "Quill" except for the last half an hour or so of the movie. Even though it was just half an hour, I cried buckets. It's a really touching, sad show. I thought last night's episode was no where near the ending of the movie so I wouldn't cry, but I was wrong. I was fighting back tears with all my might. I would have just let go of the tears welling up within me...

Childhood reminisce Part 2 amongst other things

Image
This morning, I woke up as per normal to prepare for school. I was changing when I realized that my bed looked as if I had not slept in it for an entire night. What do you think? I take this as a sign that I hardly moved when I was asleep last night, which leads to a deduction that I was dead to the world. The next time I have vivid dreams when I am asleep, I will take a photo of the condition of my bed the very next morning. I am quite sure that my 2nd pillow and stuff toy will be on the floor and my blanket would be in complete disarray. Take a look for yourself! The pink thing is my stuff toy. It is an elephant named "Elly". As for my entry title, every Tuesday Jien, Tina and I have a food theme so that it will make our looong Tuesdays more interesting. Last week we decided that the theme would be "Food we ate when we were young". At the end of last Tuesday, we decided this theme was so interesting, we had Part 2 of this theme today. Last week, I brought cake bal...

SA rugby match today

We lost 7-0. :( BUT, at least we weren't completely TRASHED to bits and pieces by our opponent. Also, I was quite displeased with how the opponent was so violent. Yes, rugby is supposed to be a rough game since it's a "contact sport", but during the game, I saw some unpleasant things: 1) One player from the opponent team kicked one SA player in the chest. It didn't seem accidental. 2) Somehow during the game, the opponent team lost possession of the ball to SA. The player from the opponent team who was holding the ball initially, threw the ball angrily and I THOUGHT I saw him pointing a finger (not the middle one) at a nearby SA player threateningly. 3) The same SA player who was kicked in the chest got a head injury. He kept playing on though. His head was bandaged and he wore this funny-looking cap thingy to secure the bandage. We could all tell the blood was just... gushing. I am not sure if the head injury was caused by an opponent player but... just the fact ...

Oh Happy Day!

Today has been a good day. I woke up at 6.30am to prepare for church. I was on worship duty today so I had to be in church by 7.45am (I play the keyboard in the church worship ministry. The first service starts at 9 so we usually meet about an hour earlier to warm up). I was rather punctual. I entered the auditorium exactly at 7.45 and had switched on the keyboard when I realized... I left my music scores at home . The band leader was kind and patient enough to drive me back to get the scores. We got back to church at 8.05am, not too late, but STILL late. I was rather afraid the band leader would "tsk" me, but he didn't! Thank God! ;) When we were all warmed up, we had enough time to pray (which was really nice). Then worship for the first service began promptly at 9. It was TERRIFIC ! Everything went smoothly! The transitions, the flow, the tempo... We musicians didn't commit any major mistakes and we were playing together, continually watching out for one another. ...

Koh-Ree-Ah!

If you didn't get the title, it's actually "Korea". Tonight, I had dinner with my parents and sister at a nice, small Korean restaurant. I would count this as my first time eating korean food. Although come to think about it, I actually ate korean food when I was on a family holiday in Korea. But somehow, I just can't remember what the food tasted like. I just remember 3 things very clearly that came out of this holiday: 1) Our tour guide cheated us of quite a lot of money. 2) I made friends with a malay couple in our tour group. The thing I remember very clearly was that the guy was S-Duper tall and the girl was so short standing next to him. She had to stand on a few telephone directories so that the height difference wouldn't be so obvious in their wedding photos. I also remember playing games with them in their hotel room and calling the guy "Superman". Can't remember why though. Hmm... 3) I tried skiing for the first time and I was a comple...

C'mon! Exercise with me!

I'm one happy girl because I finally got to swim today, first time in the whole week. Over the past few weeks, I've been trying to swim three times a week. However this week on Monday when I wanted to swim after I got home from school, the Pool person who comes to my house twice a week to clean the pool added something inside, so I couldn't swim. I ended up running on the treadmill, watching "Hot Chick" at the same time. Which leads me to ask myself, which is better? Running or swimming? Personally, I LOVE running. Yet, as I start to swim more now, I am beginning to prefer swimming to running instead. So I exercise to keep fit and also to, preferably, lose some "flabs", if you get what I mean. ;) I then decided to google "running exercise versus swimming". I wasn't able to find something that actually told me which helps more. BUT, I found 2 websites that were actually quite interesting. 1) "My patience is thin, when will I be?" ...

First time

Today, I have had the good fortune to have a few "first time" experiences. Let me enlighten you: 1. I went against my norm and wore a pair of blue crystal earrings to school! It may not seem like a biiig deal but to me, trust me on this, it is. I actually only pierced my ears about 2 years ago and since then, I've always been wearing silver studs to school. Basically because MGS only allowed studs or ear sticks on the first ear hole. But of course, I take off the studs to wear other more colourful, and sometimes even flashy, earrings over the weekends. So as usual, yesterday morning I took off the studs and put on a pair of round blue crystal earrings from Perlini's Silver. They were a birthday gift from a church friend a few years back and yesterday was actually the first time I put them on. They looked really nice on me! ;) Anyhow, I got home from dinner last night and I was just plain lazy to take them off. So I wore them to school today and, strange as it sounds, ...

Happy Mother's Day!

Image
To all the mothers out there, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY ! Instead of celebrating this special day over dinner tonight, my family decided to avoid the mad rush for restaurants. We'll have the celebration dinner next week instead. Also, to prevent getting caught in the mad rush for any restaurant, we actually reached the eating place at 5.45pm. We finished dinner by 6.30 and got home at 7pm. The sun had not even set completely yet! The comic is a little small but I got it from the newspaper today. I thought it was quite interesting because stay-at-home mothers usually find the housework natural for them to do. It is until Mother's Day where all their duties are taken care of and they see OTHER people in their role that they realize that maybe their jobs as housewives isn't as easy as it seems. Although I feel that as long as housewives see their daily duties as a routine they do not loathe, it's a benefit. Which brings me to the question of whether I will be willing to becom...

SAFTI Military Institute: The OCS

Image
Today it was a slack day for me in school. I only attended Chapel and PE. I missed Math accidentally and had to miss Lit tutorial because 7 of us were dismissed earlier, at 11.45. Why? You may be wondering? Well, it was because the 7 of us were going to the Officer Cadet School. Which brings me to list 5 reasons why I want all my male friends to get into OCS when they're serving NS! ESPECIALLY my older brother! ;) Here we go: 1) Your status is elevated because when you graduate from the OCS, you're commissioned to be an OFFICER. How cool is that. 2) As a result of the elevation in status since you're now an officer, you get a higher salary. Who doesn't want more money? If you don't want a higher salary, give that extra money to me then! 3) At your passing-out parade (or whatever you call it, forgot the actual name), you'll be inspected in the ultra cool parade square at SAFTI MI. How grand is that. 4) The SAFTI MI compound is breathtaking and huge! Just the ent...

050505

What a wonderful date! So catchy! So interesting! Yet , nothing of particular importance happened in MY day. Basically, I just felt that I had to post something to commemorate such a catchy date. Today, my last lesson only ended at 4.45pm. It was a long but "ok" day for me. I rushed down to Bukit Timah for Math tuition after school. It wasn't a very productive session but I got to meet up with Old MGS mates! Oh my gosh! I was soooo happy to see such a big group of them! Usually I go for math tuition on Tuesdays or Wednesdays when all of the ACJC people attend the Thursday session. However this week, things kept cropping up in school on the days I was scheduled to go for tuition, so I had to go for tuition today. What JOY ! Talking about my Math tutor, of late she has been shopping alot at 7-eleven, the store and more. ;) With every $5 you spend, you'll receive one free Hello Kitty magnet. There are 31 designs, 1 for each year that 7-eleven has been opened (Hope I'...

Traumatized

I have been traumatized by a tie-pulling classmate named Annabella Seoh. We had a compulsory Senior Civil Servant talk (Hope I got the name right) today in school. The VIP was a person who held a high position in the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (Again, hope I got the name right). Chairs were arranged for us JC1s to sit on during the talk. I tell you, everybody was SQUEEZED. I was sitting between Jien and Bella. Jien was acting as a support for my dear Tina Mama as my Mama tried to get some sleep during the talk, while Bella was playing with my handphone and doing various stuff throughout the talk. Me? I read "Othello" for a period of time. Then I gave up and decided to tune in to the talk. Towards the end of the Q&A session, Bella successfully pulled my tie. And it's not just from the bottom of my tie, but she pulled it at the knot. Do you how ticklish it can be? Especially when I'm quite a ticklish person. So she managed it the first time. Then she did ...

20 Fishballs!

Yesterday was my brother's 20th birthday and guess what I got him as a birthday present for this year? TWENTY FISHBALLS! Not just dodo fishballs, mind you. But top notch fishballs from Old Chang Kee . Uh huh. No kidding. The thing is, he, the receiver of the fishballs, hasn't eaten a single one. Whereas I, the giver of the fishballs, have already eaten three. Oh dear. So this present isn't that well received. Maybe I should have gotten him something more practical. Or if it was a food item, something that he really loves to eat. Usually, I just write him a nice, long card. It's the thought that counts, isn't it? Anyhow, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY GEGE!

The Airport Experience

This will be 3rd 1-week long overseas trip my dad is going on for 3 weeks in a row. Last week, he was in East Timor with my brother. This week, he went to Kalimantan with my mum and my brother. Just now after dinner at the airport, he left for Jakarta and will be back Friday morning. My dad may be around on weekends but I still miss him, not only because he fetches me to school in the mornings, but he's always so interesting to talk and listen to. Anyhow, he'll be back Friday morning and I'm really looking forward to it. As for "The Airport Experience", it's really something like an exaggeration. My family and I had dinner at the airport tonight before sending my dad off to Jakarta. As I was walking to Crystal Jade Restaurant with my sister from the carpark lot, I bumped into my PE teacher. There was no way I could have avoided him so I decided to "bite the bullet". Here is something about my conversation: Me: Hello Mr "PE teacher"[We shall...

Retreat!

Yesterday morning, I left for Pulai Springs Resort, JB, Malaysia with my sister and 16 other church members for a worship ministry retreat. We have this retreat once a year and this year, I attended this retreat for the very first time. It was a very short retreat of 2 days and 1 night only. I arrived back in Singapore in the evening today. One thing is for sure, the thing we enjoyed the most was the FOOD. We seemed to be eating and eating constantly with breaks inbetween that weren't enough to completely digest all the food from our previous meal. Yesterday, first thing we did after we left church (meeting point) was to have breakfast at a market in Bukit Timah. The moment we reached the resort in JB not long after breakfast, we had lunch at the resort's only Chinese restaurant. About 2 hours later, we had tea after a session of ice-breakers. Before we knew it, it was time for dinner at the same Chinese restaurant. Then guess what? We went out for supper afterwards! This morni...
