Happenings in May: Part 2

14 May, Saturday: Jiejie's vocal concert I attended my sister's vocal concert that Saturday, and she sang in 3 items. The first one is a solo by her - I Dreamed A Dream (You can click on this link to go to the Youtube video). The second one is a duet by her and another of her classmate - I Know Him So Well (Again, please click on this link to view the video). A few of my sister's supporters: The third item she was in was the Finale item where all the students sang together. It was an interesting night!:) 15 May, Sunday: Playing with General after church, and steamboat at Wendy's After church and prayer meeting on Sunday, a few of them came over to my house to hang out and play with General. At that time, he was afraid of the guitar, and the playing of guitar actually seemed to have a calming effect on him. He even tried to hide under the bench, to save himself from the guitar: At the end of it all, he voluntarily climbed onto my lap and fell asleep! Here's a shot ...

Happenings in May: Part 1

8 May, Sunday After dinner on Sunday, I was walking home from Heartland Mall with my mum when we saw this huge Saint Bernard sitting at the void deck near my house. He was so mild, quiet and just... HUGE! He was drooling all over the place though, poor dog, since Singapore is much too hot and humid for him! But you could tell that the owner takes very good care of this Saint Bernard (Milo is his name, according to the maid walking him). The dog was trim, the coat was well-conditioned, and Milo was relatively obedient in answering the maid's orders to sit so that I could snap a photo of and with him. 13 May, Friday Here's a video clip of General desperately trying to get a hold of his dog treat: We tried to take a photo with General, but he was too active and everything turned out a blur, like these 2 photos...

'General' News

These are a collection of photos (and a few video clips) of General over the few weeks he has lived with us: 18 April: General is teething very badly, and he takes a liking to people's hands and feet over his many fun chewable toys. Our 'safe haven' is this small area just outside the storeroom. He can't get to us there because he still hasn't figured out that he can jump down that one step to get to that area. This is Miming, our helper, sitting there, tempting General to get to her feet while enjoying a drink. In the meantime, he can't get down that one step, and he can't get through the glass to her feet:D 20 April: Eliz kept thinking of General and how much she wants to play with him. So on the night of 20 April, she came over to my house with Eugene just to play with General. He kept running round and round and round I could never take a sharp photo of him. Here's two shots: General running away as I took this shot that had the flash come on automat...

Last Week of April

On Tuesday, Erica and Ryan, my friends from Hong Kong (whom I got to know when I was studying my first semester in Nottingham) came to Singapore for a short holiday! They stayed at a boutique hotel called The Saff, which is on Keong Saik Road, less than 5 minutes' walk from my office. It is also about 5-10 minutes' walk from Outram Park MRT. For its good location, and for the fact that it is a boutique hotel that is in a good, clean and new condition, it is really affordable. I had a look at their room, which was on the small side, but very cosy and very clean. Besides, when you're in Singapore, you should get out and see the sights, not so much stay in the hotel. So the smallness of the room shouldn't be a bother. Unless you're coming to Singapore just to stay in and hang out in the hotel. If so, then you may find the room a tad claustrophobic. Anyway, on Tuesday night, they visited my home, then together with Eugene and my brother, we drove to Bedok Block 85 for s...
