Today in school

Image
We finally gave Mr Soh the Teacher's Day present the class got for him, even though it just meant One-Third being present to give it to him. At least Jiaying's clique popped by for awhile. Well, here's the photos: I cropped this photo to only feature Jien and Daniel because... Don't you think they look so compatible and comfortable together!? One-Third approves of this pairing! ;) After our last lesson, I went to Marina Square with Julie, Bella, Jien and Tina to have lunch at Billy Bomber's and to do a little shopping. Julie's dad was really nice to fetch us all back to school from Marina Square. I don't think he wants to give us a lift anymore because we were making SO much noise in the car, he didn't have one moment of peace with us around;)

Here are a few photos I took today of One-Third "activities": soccer: 4 versus 1 Jien and Tina! In the library meeting room: Jien was trying to pull Tina towards her but Tina was holding on to the table and trying to pull Olive along with her. A mini tug-of-war thus resulted. All this while, Ms Lye was on the phone in the room. That's all for today! *More photos can be found under the "One Third Memories" album, as per normal! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY(in advance) JOLENE!

Image
My best friend is FINALLY 18! Oh well, technically at least, because her birthday's only on the 27th, but since we've already celebrated it together, I already consider her as an official 18 year old:) Now, to begin my recount of this successful event: I smsed Jolene to "chope" her one full week before the actual day, since I know Jolene as a very popular and busy person. I told her that Amy and I wanted to meet up with her to celebrate her birthday. What she wasn't aware of was that the other 18-year-olds were going to be there too. She was going to meet Amy and I at Somerset MRT at 7.45pm. However, before that, Amy and I rushed down to town immediately after Youth Ablaze to buy the birthday badge from Toys'R'Us and a balloon from Party With Us. The 2 main party planners in the cab on the way to Orchard We gobbled down our dinner at Subway in Cineleisure, thinking Jolene would be on time. But, nope. The birthday girl had to be fashionably late. She only a...

Happy Get-Fat Friday

Image
Today was a SUPER happy day! I may have felt all ache-y and uncomfortable just before lunch, but lunch at Plaza Sing's Yoshinoya followed by ice-cream dessert at Gelare took away all kinds of discomfort I was suffering from previously. Throughout the whole "outing", we were really high. Especially Bella . I just kept laughing and laughing, AND laughing. We laughed on our walk to the MRT station, laughed on the train itself as all 7 of us (Daniel wasn't in school) surrounded a pole, laughed through lunch, dessert, on the train back to school also surrounding a pole initially before we found seats, and finally laughed our way back to school for Lit lecture. We got back to school 15 minutes earlier, which was good, because we wanted to play with the "toys" we bought from the newly opened Daiso at Plaza Sing. For those who don't know, Daiso is a Japanese franchise that sells everything at $2, we found LOADS of interesting barang-barang there, I'm definit...

1) TAMPONS! So it's not very cool to begin my entry with this word, but it was the lunch topic today that earned the most "EWWs" and gross looks. You would think that upon hearing about such a "disgusting" topic, Daniel would be the one who would have the strongest response. But he simply covered his ears at certain points while the rest of us roared in laughter or simply shouted when I just had to say something rather gross. AYE. There's nothing wrong with wearing tampons ok. haha. In fact, I did save somebody's "bloody life" by giving her the appropriate advice and instructions the night before our Econs papers 1 and 2. 2) I'm so proud that my sister's proud of me!;) I was soooo happy when she brought down the cork board I decorated for her birthday to "show off" to the Worship Core Team before their meeting. YAY! haha. My band leader even said something about hinting to his wife to do something like that for his birthday, ...

One-Third outing!

Image
Today's outing was at my house, immediately after school. It was something purely impromptu and decided only during our last period of GP. We watched "I Not Stupid Too" with alot of laughter and tears. One thing though, why must they mix the funny moments with the sad ones? I actually felt bad laughing out loud just when I was crying... Anyhow, when we first entered my house, the smell of cinnamon was just so delicious! I discovered that my maid, Ida, baked an apple cinnamon pie all because she had nothing to do and was bored. Oh man, it was DELICIOUS! I've already been showing off on behalf of my maid to the Worship Core Team who is now having a meeting downstairs. When I saw my cousin, the first thing I told her was, "One-Third came over just now and they LOVED the pie, so I'm sure you'll love it too!" :) A picture of One-Third trying 2 slices of the pie while slacking around after the movie. We had a fun time together and for the shortest moment,...

CORRECTION

In my entry entitled "Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood", I made a mistake that MUST be corrected and announced to EVERYONE! I wrote: "What about love? In this book, Tibby, Carmen and Bridget all find love while Lena is still trying to recover from a very broken heart. Makes me wonder what would it be like if the whole of One-Third suddenly got boyfriends at the same time. In the last part of the book, the 4 girls had a stayover and their phones kept ringing, especially from their boyfriends and loved ones. Can you imagine One-Third then? All 7 phones ringing? It would be madness!" It's not 7 phones, but EIGHT! I've forgotten Daniel and I'm thoroughly repentant of my mistake. Nice Daniel has forgiven me too;) Oh, and Daniel? Go find a boyfriend too!;)

My Daddy

Image
My father requested for a small bag to bring on his mission trips. So the church staff bought him a small bag, as requested. He tried carrying it at home yesterday and got my sister and I laughing uncontrollably. Take a look for yourself: Back view Front view: Just imagine him in a school uniform and he would be the perfect picture of a happy schoolboy ;)

Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood

Saying goodbye is so difficult, so heartwrenching. I have just finished reading "Girls in Pants", a book I was soooo eager to buy when it first came out many months ago. It was a hardcover edition though, so I didn't buy it. I only discovered on Thursday that Kinokuniya sells the soft cover edition now. So on Saturday when my family went to Taka for dinner, I jumped at the opportunity to use my dad's discount card to get the book. This third book in the "travelling pants" series focuses on the last summer of the 4 girls Lena, Tibby, Carmen and Bridget before they enter different universities all over the U.S. Now that I've completed it, I keep thinking about farewell assembly and what life is going to be like when I have no more school to attend. I don't think I'll miss the school itself, but more of One-Third. My fellow One-Thirders will probably cry their eyes out when school is over for good, so I'd better bring a whole box of tissue so I ...

Random thoughts

1) Continued reading of "Habits of the Mind" by James W. Sire I've continued reading this book on this short break after prelims and I read this passage on truth that's rather impactful, to me at least. "The important thing for the man of truth is to understand that truth is everywhere, and that he is allowing a continuous stream to pass by him which might set his soul working... Truth is commoner than articles of furniture. It cries out in the streets and does not turn its back on us when we turn our backs on it. Ideas emerge from facts; they also emerge from conversations, chance occurrances, theatres, visits, strolls, the most ordinary books. Everything holds treasures, because everything is in everything , and a few laws of life and of nature govern all the rest" I love the words in purple. It's a reminder to me that in everything, there is something good and precious. Now I just have to learn how to pick these treasures out. 2) Growing old in love I...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEKX!

Image
So this post is one day late but I was sooo bushed yesterday after everything had been done that I just didn't have the heart to post something about it. Well, it was a mad rush to get Alekx's presents according to the initials of her name. The day of my last prelim paper (Which was Thursday, 14th Sept), I met Jolene at Taka and we walked and walked around Taka until about, 8pm. By then, we were so damn tired, we decided to pause for dinner. The shopping was supposed to continue after dinner because we still had a few items left on the list, but we gave up and headed home. Here's the list of things we had to buy for Alekx: A ccessory - cute butterfly hair clip L otus caramelised biscuits - I haven't tried it but Jolene said it's REALLY nice E arrings K hong guan biscuits - I was supposed to buy a keychain but it completely slipped my mind. Ended up with this. X Cross pendant - It's a pendant from Perlini's Silver, very pretty! A ngelic looking thing - We dec...

Happy belated birthday Joanne(Olive)!

Image
So this is a belated post but I feel like I MUST give this One-Third birthday celebration some air time:) It was a bright Saturday morning and One-Third(minus Jien and of course, Olive) met up earlier to settle the preparation for the surprise we were going to spring on Olive at her house. Our process of preparing was a very... public one. First we were at the bus stop nearest to Olive's house stringing the photos. Here's Sheryl, Tina and Julie. With me included, we were the first four to arrive. Bella was the latest;) Next, we continued making our preparations (this time to arrange the cake, tarts, candles and packets of milo) in the middle of no where. We were actually walking in towards Olive's house while doing all these things. In the last very public step of our preparations, we lit the candles in Olive's driveway before entering the house. After making our way up to Olive's room, "the one with the pink door" (what her mother said, and BOY was it PIN...

WHERE's the Air-con now?

Just look at my poor dog in today's hot weather... Here's two shots of Keller with his head underneath his cage in an effort to hide himself from the sun. So cute right?!
