HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEKX!

So this post is one day late but I was sooo bushed yesterday after everything had been done that I just didn't have the heart to post something about it.

Well, it was a mad rush to get Alekx's presents according to the initials of her name. The day of my last prelim paper (Which was Thursday, 14th Sept), I met Jolene at Taka and we walked and walked around Taka until about, 8pm. By then, we were so damn tired, we decided to pause for dinner. The shopping was supposed to continue after dinner because we still had a few items left on the list, but we gave up and headed home. Here's the list of things we had to buy for Alekx:

Accessory - cute butterfly hair clip
Lotus caramelised biscuits - I haven't tried it but Jolene said it's REALLY nice
Earrings
Khong guan biscuits - I was supposed to buy a keychain but it completely slipped my mind. Ended up with this.
X Cross pendant - It's a pendant from Perlini's Silver, very pretty!
Angelic looking thing - We decided on this pink rubber band (for the hair) because it's really sweet and the tag says "Angels"

Notebook - A cute one from Kinokuniya which says, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". Too bad I didn't take a photo of it to show you guys!
Drinking straw - Heh. We were thinking daisies but ended up buying this cute straw from Cold Storage. More unique! ;)
Rubber band - For the hair of course.
Eclairs - Supposedly something she likes to eat alot.
Necklace - We got her a simple chain from Perlini's Silver to go along with the cross.
Eggs - Mini chocolates ones.

Besides buying ALL these things, I also had to buy a helium-filled balloon for her as part of the decor. With my patient mother for company, I went down to Centrepoint JUST to get this balloon, and at the same time to buy the eclairs. It was worth it though because the balloon was REALLY cute and everybody thought so too! Made me so proud of myself that I was the one who got it! :)

All in all, it was fun and fulfilling!

Random #1: SUMMER HAS COME EARLY! The weather these few days have been AWESOME. After Monday lectures, Po Yew, Janice and I made a quick trip to the Millenium Gardens just next to Law School to take photos. The sky is so blue, the sun is so bright, the grass is so green, the flowers are in full bloom... Forget about jackets. In Po Yew's words, which he said very happily, "The girls are wearing nothing!" Magical Christmas 2009 has come 11 months early

It has been snowing most of today, and everything is covered in snow - a beautiful, magical, pretty sight! It really is unbelievable how much snow there now is in Nottingham. Because it's Nottingham! It never snows in Nottingham, at least not for many many years past! Even in London, I heard that it's snowing so much that Heathrow airport was closed, train and tube services were stopped, SCHOOL LESSONS WERE CANCELLED! Why can't we have classes cancelled over here?! When I first woke up, I knew it would snow at certain points of today (but I didn't expect THIS much snow!). Like some Airline video

I just watched the 3+ minutes of the "final chapter" of Little Nyonya, the Channel 8 drama serial that ended last week. [Spoiler alert] I think it is so unnecessary? Anyhow, from the time of 2:59 onwards, I felt like I was watching some kind of Airline video, the one where they would show before the airplane takes off, briefing all passengers on what to do in cases of emergencies and stuff like that? Seeing Chen Xi stand behind Yueniang like that reminds me of when the air stewards and stewardesses on the video would end the video saying, "Thank you for your attention. Have a pleasant flight." Don't you think so? On the topic of Little Nyonya, I read an article from Mediacorp TV about this "Final Chapter" and I really wonder why people are making so much noise over a drama serial such that Mediacorp people have to step out to make further explanation!
