28, and at Home

When I heard about your leaving for that Better Place on Friday, a whole slew of emotions welled up within me. I was happy for you, and yet sad that you have left. I was relieved for your family and loved ones, and yet could not bear to think of how much tears and hurt they must be going through right now. I was, and still am, in disbelief. Who leaves at the age of 28? You're the first one in my life who just did. I saw you last night, and today as well. You looked like a 70-year-old man, a person I could not have recognized if I had not seen a photo of you just a few days before. I gave you a flower, knowing that this flower was going to die and be burnt, mixed with ashes. And memories. Yet, not a tear was shed on my part. Oh, my heart felt so heavy, like someone had taken it with both hands and had begun to wring it tight. Over and over again. I heard your mother calling out to you, asking you to come back. But you did not. You could not. Do I even have the right to feel sad? I h...

Off to Aceh

Here's just a notice (for anybody who cares): I'm off to Aceh tomorrow until Thursday with my dad! It is a super short "mission trip" and I'm feeling a little excited, and yet at the same time, apprehensive (I think). Mostly because I will be the only girl! Yeah, so my dad will be there to protect me, but still . I've been tasked to bring my camera - something that didn't need to be "tasked" because I would have brought my camera anyway! So. Hopefully I'll bring back many beautiful and fun photos!:)

Fabulous Day

Despite the fact that I had to wake up early to reach church by 7.45am for warm-ups and all, we had relatively great praise & worship sessions at both services. I did make mistakes on the keybaords, that I completely regret, but overall, we did well as a band. Furthermore, we pulled off Hillsong's "His Love" really well for first-timers (to this song)! Yay, all the practice on Saturday morning was definitely worth it. I heard the song at such a high volume to pick out keyboard parts that after that I felt a leeeeetle deaf. I may not have gotten the chance to have lunch with the 19-year-olds as per normal, but I met up with Jien! Finally, I've gotten my chance to go to a flea market with Tai Jien Jien. It was quite an experience! And I got stuff at quite a steal, Jien was quite proud of me. Now, just to tell you (and myself, because I just cannot believe I spent so little and got quite a few items), I got a pair of pants, a belt, a shirt, a dress-top and a pair of ...

Photographs

I'm just going through old photographs in my computer in search of a nice proper photo of One-Third that I can put on my computer desktop at work. Really brings back old memories!

So far...

I thought I had a lot of things to say but now that I am staring at the screen and have to start typing, my mind feels kind of empty. Maybe I will just post a few photos and talk from there. Mother's Day dinner! Here are the two decent photos taken with my camera at our special family dinner last Sunday. Actually, it was nothing special compared to our other family dinners every Sunday. BUT, just because it was Mother's Day and we had a new family friend joining us for this dinner, it was special:) On 17th May, Thursday, Jolene and I met our "god-family" at Vivocity Marche for dinner. The two photos above are the 3 sons of my godparents - so you can say they are my god brothers? I took the train home with them and, boy, the two youngest (the oldest is the one in the centre) boys are SO active and loud. Makes me wonder if I really want to have children next time. It doesn't help that I had dinner with 3 rowdy boys from church just now. James and Beatrice were task...

Weekend

It is a Sunday yet again, and I find myself at the computer blogging, because my TV space has been taken up by my parents and 2 visiting relatives. Here are a few things I just want to put into words so that, somehow, there won't be a chance for my memory to fail me such that that event/experience that I'm trying so hard to remember fades away with time. Friday (11 May): - Coming to realize that life is so short and unpredictable: We all got a fright of our lives when Sheryl heard and then spread the news of a plane crash and fire in an army facility in Taiwan. We were so worried for Daniel's safety. On Saturday, he called me in the late morning just to reassure me that he is all right. - That one-and-a-half hour telephone conversation with Jien. Saturday (12 May): - At our usual Saturday morning breakfast together, Tina and I were walking towards the counter to order our breakfast when I noticed that she was wearing the Sainteria PE t-shirt. It occurred to me that I cou...

One-Third dinner

Image
As promised (in the 3rd point of my previous entry), here are some photos taken on Monday night, the 7th of May: To be more detailed in regards to Monday night's event, we decided to meet up because Daniel was leaving for Taiwan the next day (that means, Tuesday night). So, he is now in Taiwan undergoing NS training and he will be there for the next 3 weeks. Tina and I decided on Central's Billy Bomber's because we went there for a birthday lunch with our other colleagues the previous Wednesday and discovered that there was a Billy Bomber's at Central. We started recalling all the crazy singing and fun we had with One-Third the other time we went to Heeren's Billy Bomber's. Therefore, we took the initiative to decide on the dinner venue. Since there were no objections, all of us met at Clark Quay station on Monday night. As usual, there were the insane moments, Tina's super-loud laughter and all the mad phototaking. Julie told us many stories and experiences...

Random thoughts

1) Just to update all of you, it is confirmed that I am studying in the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. Term starts 24th September. I'll be leaving for the UK with my parents on the 17th/18th of September. 2) Event-of-the-day-at-work: About 6 people huddled around the photocopier, trying to pull out a piece of paper that seemed to be firmly entrenched in a roller of the machine. Out of sheer perseverance and patience (and lots of pleading with the machine by me), I (Lynn) managed to pull out that silly piece of paper together with Lin's (one of the secretaries in the office) help. I think what topped it off was that when the paper was dislodged, we all clapped and cheered!:) 3) Met One-Third (excluding Bella and Olive) for dinner on Monday night at the Billy Bomber's at Central (the new shopping centre). The food was FABULOUS, dessert was SINFUL-LY delicious, and the company was IRREPLACEABLE. I've photos but I'm not using the computer that HAS the photos ...
