at home

It is my second week back in Singapore and I'm still very glad to be home! Been watching alot of TV, sleeping quite a bit, eating ALOT and meeting up with friends too - all in all, it's been quite productive leisure-wise! This weekend, I will be going to Bangkok with my parents and sister and will be back on Monday. Well, I'm just checking in. Will have to "update" my to-do list as well!

going home!

And today is the last day of term! I have one more hour of Tort lecture to attend before I pack into the bag whatever is left of my stuff before Uncle Nam gives me a lift to Beeston train station. From Beeston, I will take a train to Birmingham New Street train station, change to another train that will take me to Birmingham International train station, and from there take a monorail to the Birmingham International Airport. Please pray I'll get to the airport in time and without any kind of difficulty/delay. I fly at 8:30pm (UK time) and transit at Dubai for about an hour and a half before I take the second leg of my journey. As I have mentioned before, I will arrive back in Singapore at 7:40pm on 15th of March, Saturday. My flight number is EK432. Please pray there won't be any delays in the flight departures and that I'll survive the trip (Ok, I'm being a little dramatic here)!

No more house

Tzen, Daniel and I went to CP Walker to sign the tenancy agreement today, only to find that the owner of the house had already found a tenant, so the house was taken and we could not rent it anymore. I have gotten enough of this. I am just going to stay in Broadgate Park next academic year.

uh oh

MY FLIGHT MAY BE DELAYED DUE TO BAD WEATHER! It's got John and myself praying very hard that there won't be any delays at all.  Read all about it, and then pray with me against it,  here .

Last Weekend of the term

The last weekend that I spent here in Nottingham  was a very eventful one.  THURSDAY FB had its Spring Formal dinner and it was something different from our usual everyday dinners, and yet at the same time, nothing particularly special. There definitely were the fun moments though, and the photo taking that took place was not bad as well. FRIDAY Lunch with Janice and John in Beeston at this small place, which was initially empty, but later filled up with elderly people, couples and mothers with babies. The three of us felt quite out of place. Angie's 20th birthday dinner at an Italian restaurant called Zizzi. For this dinner, I took the initiative to get the usual Singaporeans together. If I hadn't taken this initiative, I'm not sure if the dinner would have taken place at all, and we wouldn't have done something special for Angie. I want to say "I never want to organise another birthday-thingy for anyone ever again because what you get back is usually more headach...

Piano-playing fingers

I am now "plugged into" my iPod while reading my Tort textbook in preparation for my tutorial on Monday, in an effort to keep out the noise coming from my neighbours and those who live down the corridor nearby. I know this sounds so ridiculously silly but, I really miss playing the piano. I miss the feel of piano keys. So much so that when I hear songs that feature a piano, I feel a little bit miserable because I can't play the piano like I did before I came here to Nottingham to study. Just now, "We Are the Reason" by Avalon started playing, and the song begins with just the singer and the piano playing. I found myself looking at my fingers and wondering whether I still remember how to play the piano! Can't wait to go back to Singapore to just TOUCH the piano back home!

I think my dad has a fan club

Someone directed me to a person's blog just now and it was shocking to read what this person wrote about my dad. Now, before you start thinking that someone has wrote some kind of hate-mail to my dad, let me assure you that it is nothing negative. Although I found it a little freaky when I first read it. I guess this person really looks up to and respects my dad. When I read of how much my dad's most recent sermon has taught him stuff and how he is reflecting on what he has learnt in church, I am very proud of my dad. Okay, enough with the talk. Let me show you the portion of his entry dated 25th February that caused me to have a whole flurry of emotions: freaked out, amused, pride in having a dad like that, etc. (Note: the words in black are my reactions/thoughts) " anyways, i just had a new cutie pie in church... hahas... it's a he (First thought that came to mind: HE'S GAY?!) ... and... my new cutie pie is none other than............ SP Lawerence Chua (Wrong sp...

Oh my golly gosh

Tzen came over to my room just now to get a packet of Cadbury instant Hot Chocolate from me. We were just talking about stuff, when I realised that I'm actually going back to Singapore next friday. NEXT FRIDAY! Ok, so I'll be leaving Nottingham on Friday. I will only be arriving back in Singapore on Saturday night, 14th March 2008, 7:40pm on flight number EK432. And then on Sunday, I CAN GO TO CHURCH! To top it all off, it hit me really hard just now that I need to start packing my room beginning Monday. Oh my goodness. I'M GOING BACK TO SINGAPORE NEXT WEEK!

To begin March, there's London

Image
I woke up at 5am yesterday (Saturday, 1st March), knowing that I will be moving about very slowly, so I gave myself one and a half hours to get ready - wash up, decide on what to wear, decide on what to bring, etc. At 6:45am, we met at the West Entrance, got into the cab that Janice called for and headed to Nottingham train station. In general, my daytrip to London with Janice, Sue May, John and Po Yew consisted of: 1) Shopping and sightseeing in Portobello Market at Notting Hill 2) Lunch at Burger King in Leicester Square, which was an all-girls thingy because the guys decided to have the famous Bayswater Duck since they had the time. They didn't have to get back to Leicester Square area in time for any plays/musicals. 3) Watching the matinee performance of "Stomp" with Sue May, while Janice watched the play entitled "Dealer's Choice". "Stomp" was REALLY good! I thoroughly enjoyed myself. 4) Dinner at a restaurant in China Town that served dim sum...

Difficult UK Weather

So, temperature may be at 12 degrees celcius, which makes it warm (Yes, we actually find this temperature warm. HOT even), but the wind comes and messes with our hair and what we're wearing. You see, we want to dress warm to combat the biting, bone-chilling wind, so we put on our scarves and wear slightly thicker coats. However, when the wind is on its break, it becomes warm because we're dressed too warmly for a temperature that is hovering above 10 degrees celcius! After getting back from London, I went to Tzen's room to pass her an egg tart that I bought from Chinatown and we talked for abit, updating each other on our own Saturday. Our conversation for the night ended with today's weather. Tzen said to me, "We're actually talking about the weather..." And my reply? "Well, we're talking about UK weather here." (Details about my daytrip to London will come soon)

Happy Leap Day!

Ok, so 29th of February is one minute away from ending here in Nottingham. But I just thought it's worth wishing all of you a Happy Leap Day because we don't get to enjoy 29th of February every year! It is also a good day because the housing issue is finally settled! Daniel decided that he liked the house last night and today, the moment Tzen finished her lectures, we went down to CP Walker to hand in our application forms. I am very happy with this house because out of all the houses we have viewed, it is relatively affordable as compared to the beautiful but costly houses we have viewed. In addition, the concept is really interesting (it's a shop house, you see). So, I like this house the best. And I really must thank God for it! Tomorrow, I'm going to London for a day! Po Yew has some ACS and ACJC reunion dinner on Sunday so he decided to spend the weekend in London. Initially, he was trying to persuade us to stay the weekend as well, but I did not want to do that. A...
