Natural Air-con

Today, the air-con people came to service my air-conditioner because a few nights ago, it was leaking, again. I guess it's going to be a monthly thing now as my air-con will always have this weak point of wanting to... leak. Anyway, I moved down to the dining table to continue with my Math when I realized how good it is to just stand at an open window and feel the wind. Usually, all the windows in my house are closed so it is always very stuffy. Just now, you only needed to open a window and you'll feel like there's proper ventilation in the house again. I love rainy days for its cooling effect. Yet it can be so annoying as well, especially at times when I need to leave the comforts of my house, like going to HIS Connection. Well, I arrived at HIS Connection with 7 stalks of sunflowers for the teachers there. I was so happy carrying it there and it made me even happier to see their surprised smiles when I gave them a sunflower each. Later, they placed all 7 flowers in a vas...

Amy & Eugene's 18th birthday Celebrations [LONG entry]

Image
Seeing that Amy is my best friend and Eugene's my cell mate and friend of whom I've known since P6(I think), I took up the job of being the "party planner". The 18-year-olds in my church always do it the normal, un-surprising way of buying a birthday cake at the last minute to celebrate, but I decided surprises are fantastic, as I've learnt from hanging out with One-Third, so I should share this joy and fun with the 18-year-olds in my church too. Therefore in this entry, you'll see snapshots of our preparations and finally the celebration of their birthdays. The other photos can be seen on my Shutterfly website. FRIDAY NIGHT We had cell group meeting at my house as per normal: We played DIY taboo as an ice-breaker and here's Simon trying to explain "trepidation" to his clueless group. We tried this layout for worship because lyrics weren't printed and I didn't have any OHP or projector at home so we resorted to this. Cool, right? ;) Anywa...

Cutting of Fringe Part 2: I succumbed

So I succumbed to peer pressure and Bella followed soon after... now I've an annoying fringe, and I've only just gotten it for a few hours. Had to blowdry my fringe and it's POOFY, like Jien's! OH dearie me. I'm uploading the photos now, so check out my sidebar for the latest updates as to when the photos will be available for viewing! :) FYI, upcoming photos include: 1) Cutting of fringe - It's an add-on to the "Cutting of fringe" album I already have on my Shutterfly website. 2) PE session - We played mini tennis, it was a 6-on-1 affair. One-Third minus Bella and Daniel against Mr Soh. 3) Dog photos! - I said in my previous entry that I'm making an effort to take more photos of my dog right? So here they are for your viewing pleasure! Please feel free to leave comments on how CUTE he is;) 4) Random One-Third photos - I'm making an effort to take more photos of us in school so that we'll have more memories in print!

Random thoughts

1) Poor Keller got his dinner three and a half hours late yesterday because my maid wasn't around to give him the food. When she called to say she won't be back until about 8pm, I asked her if she had fed Keller already, to which she said no. So I gave him his food at 5.30pm. This afternoon, my maid came to me at about 2pm and said she had fed Keller already so I didn't need to worry about him starving or something. I said, "So EARLY?! That's not dinner, it's like, lunch!" But my maid told me 2pm is his normal eating time actually. Oh dear, I feel bad... Well, I've been making extra effort to spend more time with him after dinner every night. Taking more photos too after discovering that my dad took many photos of Churchill when we first got him. 2) My dad said this just now while I was eating durians with him, "I think in this family, those who like durians have an interest in law." 3) Personal message to Birdy Thia: I've linked your blo...

Baby photos

Image
One day, One-Third wanted to "exchange" baby photos. So I spent about half an hour on Thursday night flipping through many photo albums at home to find photos of myself as a baby. I didn't find alot but whatever I found, I just brought it to school. Here are a few that I thought I can "show off";) A photo of me when I was only 1 year old. My parents both tell me that I was a very bald, smiley baby. So I have hair here, but from certain angles I looked a little bit like a boy because of my lack of hair. At one photo, my dad thought I was my brother! This is a photo of the 2-year-old me with my first dog, Churchill. My dad's favourite breed of dog is the bulldog. So I guess he was so excited about getting Churchill. We have about 3 albums of him, while I still can't find a WHOLE album of myself as a baby. How sad is that! BUT, the point of this photo is to let you compare our sizes - I'm about the same size as Churchill! After seeing this shot, I'v...

In less than 3 months

The church has to grieve again, in less than 3 months since Aunty Jenni passed away. Soon enough I'll be stepping into the sanctuary, seeing a coffin in the middle of the altar area. It is so heartwrenching just to think about it.

Go Away!

My cough's been persisting for two weeks now, and it is getting very irritating. I can tell that I'm recovering s-duper slowly because my cough is less phlegm-y now but there still is phlegm and I keep coughing because it's very... itchy. So I cough and cough and cough until my eyes tear and, if it's really bad, I get a headache and my throat hurts afterwards. Monday, I had this experience. I was in the school library with Tina, Sheryl and Julie when I suddenly felt like a coughing fit was coming on and I couldn't stay in the library any longer. So I made out some sounds to let them know and I half-walked half-ran out of the library, desperately trying to resist the "itchiness" before I left the library. Once I got out, I coughed and couldn't stop. At the end of the whole ordeal, I felt like I had just cried really badly. Last night, I was supposed to lead worship at cell group meeting but Eugene took over. Luckily he did because halfway through the 1s...

SSC Farewell

Image
I can't believe I've actually "graduated" from Saints Sports Club! I think the thing I'm going to miss the most is the Exco I worked so closely with for this year. We may have come into existence last year but we never did "bond" until, sadly, this year, especially when we had to plan all the camps and events for the J1s. But I've said this once and I won't say it again on this blog. You guys in the J2 Exco know all this lah, so I really hope we treasure all that we've gone through together! Photo the outgoing J2 Exco took at the end of the Farewell cum Handing Over ceremony. We're missing Bryan Pee though. All in all, it was a heartwarming farewell to us J2s and it may have started and ended really late, but I don't regret enduring my cough and headache (induced by the cough) to come for this farewell. You can see the rest of the photos on my Shutterfly website, that's linked to this blog too:)

Rapture 2006

Rapture happened on the 4th of August this year and it was at the Esplanade. I'm feeling rather lazy to say anymore here so erm... for those who want to see the photos, please click on the link on the sidebar!:)

More wedding photos

Image
I was looking through my sister's Multiply site when I saw the photos she managed to get from the professional photographer (from my church) Jiejie Aileen engaged for her wedding. Here are a few that really struck me as so sweet or just very nice:) Such a SWEET photo! Oh my I just HAD to post it here... NOW you can see for yourself how handsome and photogenic my nephew is! :) This is a shot of the sweetest, cutest flower girl who overturned her basket just to check that there were no more petals to toss. It was immensely funny! My sister and I with Cynthia. The 3 of us did the song item for the wedding. My sister and I sang while Cynthia played the keyboard. Don't they look pretty (As in my sister and Cynthia)? I feel so honoured being related to them! ;) My sister and I performing the song item "Angels brought me here". Last but not least, the photo of my family, the newlyweds and Jack! Doesn't it look so... formal? :)

Vanishing Acts by Jodi Picoult

2nd book I've read by Jodi Picoult, good and sweet in many parts, but still can't beat the first one though, "My Sister's Keeper". Here are some quotes: "Let me tell you what happens when you cook down the syrup of loss over the open fire of sorrow: It solidifies into something else. Not grief, like you'd expect, or even regret. No, it gets thick as paste, black as ash; yet it isn't until you dip a finger in and feel that sharp taste dissolving on your tongue that you realize this is anger in its purest form, unrefined; a substance to be weighed, and measured abd spread." " Bad is not an absolute; but a relative term. Ask the robber who used the cash he stole to feed his infant; the rapist who was sexually abused as a child; the kidnapper who truly believed he was saving a life. And just because you break the law doesn't mean you have intentionally crossed the line into evil. Sometimes the line creeps up on you, and before you know it, y...
