My parents in Nottingham

Image
My parents flew over to the UK from Germany on Monday. They stayed with me and hz for two nights, and will be taking the 10pm flight back to Singapore from London today. This also means that I seriously need to start studying like there's no tomorrow. While they've been here, I did study a little bit, and got to complete my essays for real, but I still spent more time slacking and chatting with my parents... and overeating. Oh, and my parents just kept napping and sleeping. They arrived at my house Monday afternoon, about 2pm. Immediately, they dropped off their stuff and we walked into Beeston for a really late lunch. It was good Thai food at the Thai restaurant opposite Sainsbury's! On the way back home, they pointed out that there was a shop that had a sign stating the surname of my brother's landlord in Kassel, Germany. And they were rather amused by it, so they actually took a photo of the sign... For dinner, we went to Higoi Japanese Restaurant! YUMYUMYUM. I LOVE ...

7pm

At 7pm, it feels like it is only 4pm or something like that. This morning, I woke up at 6:40am, and it felt like it was already 9am! I covered myself with my blanket, shut my eyes really tight, and forced myself to go back to sleep. Overall, it's wonderful to have so much sun!:)

Singapore-Nottingham

Image
What did I eat/drink in Singapore before I returned to Nottingham? On Tuesday, 20 April, I requested for 'kong ba bao', so Aida prepared it for me! Although I stuffed myself ridiculously silly as there was sooo much! I didn't finish it all though, and we had the rest of it on Thursday night. Anyway, on Thursday, 22 April, I HAD to drink a cup of bubble tea. So, a cup of bubble tea I drank! I was quite amused by the pearls right on top of the cup of hazelnut chocolate ice blended. Usually, the black tapioca balls are at the bottom of the cup. They must have forgotten to put in the pearls right at the beginning! And then on the right, those are all the dishes served for dinner on Thursday! It was a sumptuous 'last' meal before returning to Nottingham. And actually, it really is the last meal prepared by Aida that I'm going to taste. By the time I return to Singapore, her contract would have ended and she would have left Singapore already! After dinner, my sister c...

Yay my parents are back!

My parents arrived back in Singapore Monday night from their fantastic cruise holiday that started and ended at Shanghai. This also means that my 3-week stay here in Singapore is about to end!:( Last night, my brother wanted to eat Japanese food at Tomoe, so the whole family went there for dinner. My parents told us loads about what they did during their holiday, and my dad kept taking all the ginger that came with the dishes. It reached a point where his small dish was half-filled with ginger. And he even took a photo of him trying to eat a whole big bunch of ginger... Do not be deceived by the serious-looking facade that my dad may have!

Work and Play Part II: One-Third [MANYMANY photos]

Image
Looking back on the week that just ended, it looked like it was all play and no work. BUT, I RESPECTFULLY DISAGREE;) Yes, I'm having loads of fun but I'm also making sure I do the work I set out to do while I'm here in SG, i.e. complete my 2 essays. I've finished the bulk of the struggle with both essays by coughing the 1st draft out for both of them, now it is just the reviewing. Anyway, on Thursday, I MET UP WITH ONE-THIRD!! I specially set aside time for this wonderful bunch of people who were my classmates in Junior College. On Thursday, they came over for steamboat dinner and wii session. In the late afternoon, I met Julie and Tina to go to the supermarket together to get the stuff we needed for the steamboat. While at the supermarket, it started raining REALLY heavily, and my fantastic brother actually texted me to ask if we needed a lift back because he could drive out to pick us up. We accepted his offer very gladly and were very thankful. While waiting for my ...
