Highlights of the Week

Image
And yet again, I find myself updating this blog only after a week from my previous entry. I am very sorry about this irregularity. Hopefully, with the start of this week, I will blog more during the week so that my next entry will not be dated next Sunday. Wednesday night (17 Oct): After my nine20 group met up to share our testimonies, we prepared the ingredients for our FB Waffles & Toasties Night! Actually, we are supposed to have 3 evangelistic/outreach events in our hall this year (or is it semester, I'm not sure). So we decided to make and give out free waffles and toasties to our hall mates in FB. It was really fun, quite stressful at times because there were SO many people waiting for us to get their waffles and toasties ready. I was in charge of making the waffles. The first time round, I forgot to put oil/butter so our first batch completely failed and stuck to the waffle maker. I spent the next 20-30 minutes scraping out the annoying waffle remains with a knife. At on...

Yet another week

Oh my, this week has really gone past so quickly. I only just realised that I haven't updated this blog for a week now! Here, I convey my apologies to those who derive some sort of entertainment or pleasure from reading my blog:) Anyhow, time has been passing by so quickly, which is something good, and yet bad at the same time. Good : Before I know it, I'll be taking a train down to Bromsgrove to meet Jiejie Aileen, Richard and Jack! I will get to spend time with them, enjoy non-hall food for about 4 days, check out Legoland. And, before I know it, I'll be going back to Singapore for Christmas! Bad : Sunday will come, my stay at jiejie Aileen's home will end, and it will probably be my last time staying with them in Bromsgrove as they will be moving to Singapore - I am going to miss them so much (or maybe I'll miss the thought that I have relatives somewhere in the UK to whom I can run to for help). And before I know it, exams and essays will be due. Now then, highl...

First nine20 meeting

I just got back about half an hour ago from the first nine20 meeting. It was like cell group back in Singapore. But the bible discussion came before the worship. Well, the exact order was a short ice-breaker, personal testimony, bible discussion, 2-song worship session, then a prayer request time. I was the only Asian there. All other 13 people present were Caucasians. I could not have felt anymore odd. But, being the thick-skinned person that I'm becoming, I find myself in more and more situations like these. At times, call me oversensitive, but "they" look at me funny (And I'm talking about every other Caucasian, not just the ones in my nine20 group). I want to "immerse" myself in this new culture, this new environment, but it is just so difficult to keep up a conversation with them. I find myself asking all the questions, wanting to find out about them, when all they want to do is to keep on doing whatever they're doing and NOT answer my questions or ...
