Last Few Days of February 2011

Goodness, we're into the third month of the year! Time is flying past too quickly!!

25 Feb, Friday: Celebrating Mummy's birthday on the actual day
Originally, my mum thought we'd be able to get the family together on the actual day of her birthday to celebrate with a dinner. But it was quite a last minute decision to have the family dinner on the actual day itself, so my sister already had something planned.

As a result, my parents invited a few friends, along with my brother, Carolin and I, and we went to the newly opened Oversea Chinese Restaurant at Shaw Tower for dinner. My parents were quite excited about it I think, because the 'char siew'(in English, it is roast pork) from the Oversea Chinese Restaurant in KL, Malaysia is so fatty and delicious. And to have a branch here in Singapore means they didn't need to wait until there was a church camp in KL to have that deliciously sinful 'char siew'.

Left: The 'char siew' that seems to melt in your mouth because of all the fats. But it's sweet, succulent... and very expensive. $50 a plate! Right: My dad with one of the friends they invited to dinner. His name is Lawrence as well. So here is a photo of the two Lawrences with yummy 'char siew'.

27 Feb, Sunday: Celebrating Mummy's birthday
On Sunday, the family had a dinner in honour of mummy. We did not try any place new or somewhere particularly special. We wanted mummy to enjoy her favourite steamed fish, so we went back to Crystal Jade Palace at Takashimaya.

Unfortunately, the usual waitresses and managers we knew at Crystal Jade all seemed to be on leave that night. And the food was substandard as compared to all the previous good-quality dinners we had had there. So, it was quite a disappointment.

Anyway, we bought a cake from Rive Gauche Pattiserie - Strawberry Shortcake. They have a stall at the basement market in Takashimaya. We decided to try it because it looked quite promising just from the packaging itself:

They even put cold packs below the cake to keep it cool!

The cake wasn't that shiok. But at least we got to sing "happy birthday" to mummy, and we still had a good time together as a family!

Happy birthday Mummy!:)
28 Feb, Monday: 'thank you' gift from salesman
On the last day of the month, LCP received three boxes of 'egg-tart thingys' (I do not know the actual name) from the Minolta salesman as a 'thank you' gift for deciding to stick with Minolta and purchasing another photocopying machine from them. They weren't bad, quite delicious actually! Erm, I think the shop name is called "Fancy Delights".

Good service from Minolta eh? Buy from them for 'free' food!;)
