4 March 2011, Friday: First iWeek
On Friday, we had our first 'iWeek' for the cell group. 'iWeek' stands for 'Interactive Week', also known as Cell Bonding. Boon Yeow and Faith came up with this name to make it... sound cooler maybe?:)
For our very first session, Eugene volunteered to organise the whole event, and he did a wonderful job! We had a steamboat dinner at my house. And Eugene got all the food and made sure the logistics were in order. I barely did anything. I just reached home at 7pm after work, and he was there in the kitchen, getting the food prepped and all. The tables and stools were out. The pots and the utensils were out too. He even took care of the drinks. Oh and before that he did all the food-shopping himself. It may have been my house that was the location of the bonding, but it felt like Eugene was the real host, when technically it should have been me being the host since it was my house!:)
I was quite amused when my dad reached home, and my mum told my dad something like, "Welcome to Eugene's Restaurant!"
Anyway, there were most of us who came later in the night, but this is the first group of people who started eating first:
They had LOADS of fun grilling the meat (beef and pork), mushroom, prawns, etc. They used LOADS of butter though, which I found a bit too much so I didn't eat too much of it.
Through a friend, Eugene got trays of fabulous beef and pork that is usually used for the Japanese 'shabu shabu'. Here's a tray of beef:
It was FANTASTIC. If I remember correctly, Eugene said that one tray of meat like this usually costs about $30. But through his friend, he got 5 or 6 trays of meat for only $50!
For dessert, my mum graciously provided us with Potong red bean ice cream. It was a slightly amusing sight to see everybody sitting side by side, eating such traditional, "old school" ice cream.

It was a good session of bonding! Very simple, nothing elaborate, but MOST enjoyable!
