New Zealand 2012 Ramblings: Day 9 - duck tour; dinner at the farm
-31 August, Friday-
Photo of the day is the deck at the farm of Mike and Lynette Love:
The day started slow where I had a free morning to myself - catching up with the news on the internet and chatting with the Connells.
Then I sat the Duck with Jo, Luke, Sarah and John, and got a chance to go round Napier abit:
We traveled on the roads of Napier:
Then went into the waters of Napier:
The photo on the left is of Luke, who is 3 months younger than John on the right photo. John was a little grumpy and tired throughout the ride and most of the day actually.
After the boat ride, I took the car back home with Sarah and John. By the time we reached home, John was on the edge of being K.O.-ed:
Around 5pm, I left the house with uncle Mike and aunty Joy. We picked up Pastor Lyn from her home, then drove on to the farm of Mike and Lynette Love. It is a "puny" farm of 100 acres (there was another farm station near by of 2000 acres) owned by this lovely couple who attend uncle Mike and aunty Joy's church.
The scenery was SO BEAUTIFUL! Just full of rolling hills and trees and greenery. They owned some sheep, 6 free range chickens ("chooks" is how they call them), and some cattle. In the background of the photo on the left, you can see the sheep:
Then it was dinner time! Next to me you see Pastor Lyn, then at the head of the table you see Mike Love. There's aunty Joy, and uncle Mike is the photographer. Lynette was in the kitchen getting everything else out on the dinner table.
Dinner was roast vegetables like yam, tatuoka (hope I got the name correct. It's like NZ sweet pumpkin), carrots and potatoes. Then there was roast beef, garlic bread and peas. You eat them with gravy, mint sauce and/or mustard.
Many stories were share. One of them is how Lynette found and kept 2 of these angels' feathers!
We also had dessert of jelly, hokey pokey ice-cream, homemade chocolate sauce and preserved apricots and pears. It was a yummy dinner, and it was interesting to hear all their stories.
Then the Connells and pastor Lyn left, and I chatted with Mike and Lynette for awhile before I retired for the night at the Loves' farm. It was such an enriching conversation with Lynette. I would say it was life-changing because I felt like her words had ministered to me deep within my heart and something just clicked and filled me right up with God's love. I went to bed knowing that I was at this farm for a reason and I asked God for more life changing input into my life during my stay on the farm. Looking back now, He answered my request.
I had a nice cosy room that looked out onto the deck and out into the rolling hills. The environment was just so different from Singapore's and I really enjoyed and was truly grateful for the stillness of it all.
