New Zealand 2012 Ramblings: Day 16 - Waimarama Ocean Beach; Farmer's & Dinner
- 7 September, Friday -
Photo of the day: First ever escalators in Hastings in the recently relocated Farmer's. It was quite a big deal to the children and they were just going up and down the escalators. When I first stepped on the escalator going up, I just said, "WOOHOO I'M ON AN ESCALATOR."
In the morning, aunty Joy drove me to Waimarama and Ocean Beach. They are in the same area. We went to Waimarama Beach first, and at that point in time, the wind was strong and the clouds were a little grey. This is Waimarama Beach:
We then drove to Ocean Beach. When we got there, the sun was just starting to shine through the clouds a bit more and it didn't seem that grey anymore.
As we walked down Ocean Beach, we came across a wild baby seal! It was just lying there, and I approached it very carefully to try and get a photo next to it.
When we got home, we found Sarah and John in the backyard, with John bouncing around on the trampoline. The first video of him bouncing without his feet ever leaving the trampoline. The second video is of him pointing away at us.
John is super cute!
At about 3:30 or 4 in the afternoon, Kate dropped off Madison and little Indie at the house before bringing Jorja and Jorja's school mate out for rock climbing. So uncle Mike and aunty Joy took us out to Farmer's, where I saw Hastings' first escalator, and we bought a birthday dress for Madison. Then we trooped down to McDonald's for fries and ice-cream. We heard from Kate that the rock climbing place was closed, so they met us at McDonald's. Here's aunty Joy with Indie on the left and Maddie on the right:
Uncle Mike, aunty Joy and I left McDonald's around 6pm to go to Napier for dinner, while David, Kate and the 4 girls stayed on for a little while before eventually going off to play ten pin bowling.
Anyway, the 3 of us were invited to have dinner at a church member's new house. Her name is Cecilia and is a part-time church staff. Together with her husband, Ian, they showed us round their new home and cooked a lovely dinner. Their presentation was so good, you would think that you're eating at a restaurant. Just look at the homemade dessert by Cecilia - so professional looking right?
They also owned a toy poodle named Casey, which was so mild and cute! Just seeing dogs like Casey made me really miss my crazy-active General:
We talked till late, then left for home feeling very satisfied from the food and fellowship with such a wonderful couple!
-Blogging from Singapore now, sigh... haha:D-
