PASSED

I took my driving test today and passed! I got 10 demerit points, of which 6 was due to the fact that I was "road hogging", something I find amusing and quite cool - Hey, I'm a road hogger, don't mess around with me!:)

I waited a good 2 hours before I could get my temporary license. During my wait, I made a new friend called Raymond. He was in the same "testing group" as me and he passed on his first try too! So we were just waiting together. It was funny how we started talking.

We were sitting in the room before our test waiting for our testers to come "pick us up". It had begun to rain very heavily. He was sitting next to me. Then he suddenly turned towards me and asked, "How do you on your windscreen wiper?" Well. I guess he has never had the privilege of driving in the rain during his lessons. Me, on the other hand. Raining during my lesson is the norm. So from talking about how to switch on the windscreen wiper and our headlights (he taught me that just in case, because he took many night lessons. Me, on the other hand, my lessons were almost always in the morning), we talked about more stuff after our test when we had to watch some safety video and wait for our temporary licenses.

When I had finally gotten my license, he still had to wait for a few people before his turn. So, we finally exchanged names, he admired my temporary driving license, then I left. It was only AFTER I got on the bus to go home that I realized that we should have exchanged numbers. I knew people from his church and he was a nice person to talk to, one more friend to talk to online wouldn't cause any harm to me. But it was too late. I guess I'll just have to ask him for his contact if we ever meet again. The likelihood is a little higher though because he stays in Sengkang, about the same area.

Anyhow, on my way home, I looked at a car and I found myself thinking, "I can drive now. I can drive THAT now, as long as it's an auto car." And when I see a car with a triangle plate, I think, "I can DRIVE now?!" Right now, I find it difficult to believe that I can actually drive now. It feels so... surreal.

One thing I'm going to miss is my driving instructor. I really wanted to take a photo with him after my test so I can blog about him and show you guys what my nice, grandfatherly driving instructor looks like. But I didn't get that chance because of the silly, super annoying rain. In the end, I could only say goodbye to him over the phone. I'm really really going to miss driving lessons...

Oh well, I can drive now.
