1) Continued reading of "Habits of the Mind" by James W. Sire
I've continued reading this book on this short break after prelims and I read this passage on truth that's rather impactful, to me at least.

"The important thing for the man of truth is to understand that truth is everywhere, and that he is allowing a continuous stream to pass by him which might set his soul working... Truth is commoner than articles of furniture. It cries out in the streets and does not turn its back on us when we turn our backs on it. Ideas emerge from facts; they also emerge from conversations, chance occurrances, theatres, visits, strolls, the most ordinary books. Everything holds treasures, because everything is in everything, and a few laws of life and of nature govern all the rest"

I love the words in purple. It's a reminder to me that in everything, there is something good and precious. Now I just have to learn how to pick these treasures out.

2) Growing old in love
I was watching the last 20 minutes of "Judging Amy" while having my lunch. The episode ended with Amy's gardener asking her mother for permission to court her. He was most polite about it, saying something like, "It would be my honour if you would give me permission to court you", to which Maxime (hope I spelt her name correctly) replied, "It would be my honour to be courted by you".

Oh man. Why does romance seem so natural and oh-so-sweet when we see it happening between two older people. Yet when we see teenagers or young adults being romantic, we have the tendency to brush them off with words like, "Ew, so mushy!" Maybe I should only consider romance when I grow old and have white hair... ;)
