Sunday Proclamation

Every Sunday, or after every Sunday, there will always be someone asking me if I went to church on Sunday, so I shall start off this entry by proclaiming: "I WENT TO CHURCH TODAY!" Just in case you have forgotten, the name of the church is Christian Centre, affectionately known simply as "T-street". Do keep this name in mind though because I'm going to keep attending this church now, although I am something like a pew-warmer right now, which is something quite exciting because I have never been a pew-warmer in my whole entire life:) Ok, I know this is a really short entry but I though I better show myself here. I will definitely blog more really soon. *Thea: Thanks for the comment! I will definitely approach you when I'm back in Singapore if I need help with Tort and Contract! I really wish I was there at the dinner with my family and your family!:)

I WANT TO GO HOME FOR CNY

For the first time ever in my life, I will be missing Chinese New Year. And it feels terribly weird. John was just commenting that he wished we did not have school tomorrow, the first day of Chinese New Year. Yet, if we think about it, even if we did not have any lectures or tutorials on tomorrow, there will not be any CNY-ish thing to do in the first place, so what is the point of not having school on the first day of Chinese New Year, if it was even remotely possible. Tonight, the Singaporean Year 1s will all be gathering at Yun's Cantonese Restaurant in Beeston for our own Reunion Dinner, probably followed by a Dessert Party afterwards at Broadgate Park (The ironing room outside John or Janice's room, haha), as we did previously. Yang's parents sent him some CNY goodies such as pineapple tarts and pork floss, and I think he will be bringing those to the dinner as well for us to enjoy. Over the weekend, I think there will be some fireworks displays put up at the Lakeside ...

It's February! (New MONTH's resolution?)

Image
Yesterday, every time I wrote the date on my lecture notes I would turn to the person sitting next to me, which always seemed to be Janice, and say, "It is ALREADY February!" I know I keep repeating this phrase but, I just cannot help saying it, time is FLYING PAST us! Well, now that we have entered this new month of year 2008, I resolved to start running regularly again. So this morning, I woke up, had a cup of milo and a muesli bar, stretched, then jogged around the lake. The temperature was zero degree celsius, what with this weekend being a particularly cold one, so I actually put on my thermal wear under a tee and hoodie, and out I went. When I first woke up, I checked the temperature and found it to be in the negative! But I told myself that I cannot procrastinate anymore, and so I went anyway. One problem though, I left my track shoes back home in Singapore. As a result, I had to jog in my sneakers, which, I think, did not give me enough support so after doing one roun...

Results

Image
I got back my results today. It was as expected - disappointing. However, I choose to thank God that I did not fail any of my papers, when I was so sure I would fail my Contract law paper as I had completely gone astray in one of the essay questions. But, I passed everything! And so I will choose to thank God for bringing me through this round of exams, what more with my feeling unwell. Anyhow, I just completed the Japanese version of the drama serial entitled "Hana Kimi"! If you ask me which is better between the Taiwanese and the Japanese version, I would say without a moment's hesitation that the Japanese version is better. It is funnier and more enjoyable. The lead actors are better looking too (No offence to fans of the boyband Fahrenheit)! Moreover, one thing I really like about Japanese drama serials is that it is always short and sweet. This drama serial only has 12 episodes. Oh and the ending of the Japanese version is so much better than the ending in the Taiwa...

3rd weekend

Just as a form of recollection, I spent my first weekend eating out a lot, having "reunions" with the Singaporean Year 1s and hallmates after not seeing each other over the Christmas break. My second weekend was spent celebrating the end of exams in my sickly state as well as saying goodbye to Erica and Ryan. So quickly, time has passed and my third weekend here in Nottingham just passed me by in a blink of an eye. I can be considered to be someone who has fully recovered, although I may still cough a little bit because the phlegm is still hanging around. Anyhow, on Friday night, we wanted to go catch a movie and so all of us rushed out of our halls to meet up at the bus stop to go into the city centre. However, when we were waiting for the bus, we decided that we would not be able to make it in time for the 8pm movie when it was already 7:30. In the end, Po Yew, Tzen, John and I all went to John's room and whiled our Friday night away. Po Yew cooked an omelette, we had p...

Recovering

To all who are in the knowledge of me feeling unwell, I would just like to let you know that I am slowly recovering. My voice has somewhat returned, except that it is still a little hoarse. Also, my throat no longer hurts like hell when I swallow. However, my nose is still very blocked and I still have quite a phlegm-y cough. As mentioned at the end of my previous entry, I had every intention of making an appointment with a doctor at the beginning of this week with the hope of getting antibiotics or something like that, but Angie told me that the doctors here are excessively reluctant to prescribe antibiotics to people unless the people are showing near-death symptoms: "Oh, you're coughing until your chest hurts and you've been coughing this severely for the past few weeks, even close to a month? Oh don't worry, you've just got a cough. Here's some cough syrup. Drink lots of water, get more rest, and you'll be fine" - What a doctor here can tell you. S...

Flashback: Post-Exams: Saying Goodbye

Image
Friday night after my disastrous (and I'm not being over pessimistic or ultra negative here. Just being realistic) Contract paper, I returned to FB feeling absolutely lousy and tired. I was feeling very unwell and had reached the point of hunger where I was no longer hungry. Dinner had just ended in FB and so they were no longer serving any more food. I returned to my room with Erica, Tzen, Stephanie and Trang as company. We were all supposed to go meet Remi and Emmanuelle for the last time before they returned to their homes in France the next day, since the two of the are exchange students as well, just like Erica. In the end, I didn't go for that little gathering, whereas the other four of them did go to the FB bar for a little while. Ok, I'm just going to let the photos speak for themselves, feeling too tired to be detailed. Saturday: Erica's last trip to Nottingham City Centre, hanging out at Starbuck's before the Farewell Dinner, the Farewell Dinner at Flaming...
