I WANT TO GO HOME FOR CNY
For the first time ever in my life, I will be missing Chinese New Year. And it feels terribly weird.
John was just commenting that he wished we did not have school tomorrow, the first day of Chinese New Year. Yet, if we think about it, even if we did not have any lectures or tutorials on tomorrow, there will not be any CNY-ish thing to do in the first place, so what is the point of not having school on the first day of Chinese New Year, if it was even remotely possible.
Tonight, the Singaporean Year 1s will all be gathering at Yun's Cantonese Restaurant in Beeston for our own Reunion Dinner, probably followed by a Dessert Party afterwards at Broadgate Park (The ironing room outside John or Janice's room, haha), as we did previously. Yang's parents sent him some CNY goodies such as pineapple tarts and pork floss, and I think he will be bringing those to the dinner as well for us to enjoy.
Over the weekend, I think there will be some fireworks displays put up at the Lakeside Arts Centre, so we will probably go and catch that just to feel like we are actually celebrating something! And then on Friday, FB is having its monthly themed night and yesterday, the chef told me at breakfast that the theme is going to be Chinese in view of Chinese New Year. I bet the Chinese food served will not be fantastic, but at least they are making an effort to help us "celebrate"/remember Chinese New Year - a very nice thing to do.
I need to get used to missing CNY, isn't it? This is going to happen for the next two years as well!:(
