3rd day of CNY

Image
It was an enjoyable 3rd day for me because I had a fantastically delicious lunch at my uncle's house with the rest of my mum's side of the family. Oh gosh the food was fabulous. I also had a fun time discussing Korean drama serials with my sister and 2 cousins who are much older than me. One of them studied to be a lawyer and actually got the full qualifications to become a lawyer when she gave it all up, deciding instead to become a scriptwriter. So now she watches Korean drama serials as part of research. Meanwhile, my other cousin, who is her sister, watches it as part of leisure, like my sister and I. A discovery I made today was that her husband watches the drama serials with her too! My sister and I were quite surprised because it is rare to come across guys who actually watch Korean drama serials. What more, he was accommodating enough to RE-WATCH certain drama serials with my cousin! Aiyo he's so nice lah. During dessert, I was talking to another cousin who was sitt...

Piggy speakers

Image
For Christmas 2005, my brother ordered online a pair of speakers for me. When I first saw it, I was a little disappointed that they were pigs and not hippos. BUT, the more I look at them, the cuter they become... I was just reading "Silas Marner" in my room while listening to my iPod, which was connected to the speakers. I looked at them and found it amusing that my Piggy speakers were singing Bardot songs... Ok, now that I've written it out it sounds silly to think of it this way but YES, those were the exact thoughts in my mind and I really felt like blogging about it, making me unable to concentrate on the book. So, if you really want to know how the Piggys "grow on you" the more you look at them? You can start looking at them now. :) The more you look, the cuter they become. The right piggy's tail can turn too, because it controls the volume. :) Thank you Gege for the Piggy speakers!

Hippo! (And Happy CNY!)

A whole day consisting of church and visiting came to an end at my family's last stop where we always have dinner on the first day of CNY: My Grandma's (Mum's side) house. We were all lazing around in the living room, watching tv, while waiting for dinner to be ready, channel surfing. Then we stumbled upon Animal Planet, which was showing a documentary on LOVELY HIPPOS! Oh gosh you should have seen the baby Hippo, it was ADORABLE! And there was one scene where they showed the Dominant Male fight off another Challenger, it was so funny to see the Dominant Male chasing the Challenger off. It was just so cute to see these 2 bulky and solid animals move so clumsily. It was such a pity though, that I didn't get to see the whole show because dinner was soon ready and the TV had to be switched off. By the time it was switched back on again after dinner, we watched a movie on Channel 8 until 9pm, where we went home. I think the cutest Hippo ever would be MY Hippo... The picture...

One third's song item for Tina

Just checked out Sheryl's blog and she has transferred the video-ed mini song-and-dance we put up at Tina's party just now! Have a fun time laughing at us (Warning: the sound doesn't tally with the image)! :)

One-third Party

Image
Ok, so this party at Jien's house was actually an advanced surprise birthday party for Tina, whose birthday is on Monday, the 30th. It involved 4 of us, namely Jien, Julie, Bella, Sheryl and Joanne, going to Holland V to collect the balloons, buy flowers and party hats. While I had to "pick up" Tina from Serangoon MRT and act as a messenger to warn them of Tina's impending presence. When the 2 of us finally got to Jien's house from the MRT station (that was after getting a little lost), the 6 of us did a mini song-and-dance for Tina as she videoed us using Sheryl's camera. Then we began our dinner and a night full of fun and laughter. Our dining table setting in Jien's garden 'KANPAI!' I tell you, after watching "The Memoirs of a Geisha", we keep referring back to it. Yesterday at PE, we actually called our PE teacher our 'danna'. Then now we say "Cheers" in Japanese instead of English... At assembly this morning, we wer...

One-Third outing!

After Cross Country run today, we went to town and had lunch at Billy Bomber's. Oh gosh, we shouldn't have ordered one plate each because the servings are GIGANTIC. The mocha milkshake and cheese fries were delicious though. There, we also made a fool of ourselves singing and "grooving" to the songs playing in the restaurant (All these songs were Oldies). Bella recorded some hilarious moments during lunch using her handphone so I'm now just waiting for Sheryl to load it on her blog so I can "steal" it from her to put it here... ;) After Billy Bomber's, we watched "Memoirs of a Geisha" at Cineleisure. The show was rather slow moving but still engaging. Michelle Yeoh was really cool as Zhang Ziyi's mentor in the movie. She was so elegant and smart, she looked so pretty in the kimonos as well. The other character I really fell for was "The Chairman" acted by Ken Watanabe. Yes, he can definitely be counted as an Old Man , but he w...
