Something meaningful

I was reading today's entry in the One Year bible and came across this passage in Job that "spoke" to me. Recently, I've been experiencing periods where I'm depressed and fatigued, while at other times I'm just determined to remain cheerful and positive. JC life is really quite tiring, I must say. So, to those who are just so sick and tired of JC life, feeling depressed and like life is meaningless, I hope these verses will minister to you somehow. Job 11: 13 "Yet if you devote your heart to him [refers to God, applies to every other "him" in this passage as well] and stretch out your hands to him, 14 if you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent 15 then you will lift up your face without shame; you will stand firm and without fear. 16 You will surely forget your trouble, recalling it only as waters gone by. 17 Life will be brighter than noonday, and darkness will become like morning. 18 You will be s...

Discovery @ Supper

After cell group meetings on Friday nights, I'm usually too tired to join them for supper. This time around, it was an exception. It was quite a miracle actually because I was really tired throughout most of tonight's meeting. But just after word, as the last 'activity' for the night, my cell leader split the group into 2 smaller groups and challenged us to a crossword puzzle in relation to everything we had learnt from the book of Acts (we've finally finished the whole book!). It was sooooooooo fun, I felt so awake later, as if my brain was in overdrive mode. Because I was feeling so "high" and unable to sleep even though my brain had completely stopped to function properly and sensibly, I went for supper. Some of my friends said my appearance at supper could be called something close to an eclipse. Well, at the kopitiam , Eugene was "collecting" drink orders from us and one of my friends asked for coke-salt. When I heard it, I was mystified. Co...

Blue-black for a bull's eye

Image
Today, I attended the last out of 3 archery sessions in Sports Club and went home, not with a prize for winning the mini competition held at the tail-end of the session, but with a big ' oh-chare ' ('bruise' in Teochew). A self-shot of my 'oh-chare'. The bruise is actually near my elbow. It's not as bad now because I didn't get the chance to take a shot of it at its worst. This bruise is the result of the string hitting my arm when I released it to shoot the arrow. What is so ironic about all this is that whenever the string hit my arm, I would be able to score a bull's eye. Otherwise, it will either miss the target completely or hit the outer rims of the circle (this is if I'm very lucky). Oh well. Overall, archery was an interesting experience. At least the bruise isn't very obvious. :)

*Fainted*

Today at Sports Club, I was on the verge of fainting but I sat down to recover in time. Luckily, it was at the tail-end of the Sports Club PT session and everyone was really nice about it. My seniors, who made a special visit, bought me a can of 100-plus and fruitips to suck on, so as to "replenish some glucose". The about-to-faint feeling was all too familiar to me. The symptoms I experienced included seeing white spots, my ears becoming VERY blocked and wanting to vomit. I say it's "all too familiar" because in Primary 5, I remembered my fainting in school after morning assembly. I was on prefect duty that morning and was about to climb the stairs when I totally collapsed in the midst of trying to hold onto the railing for support. The teachers who were hurrying to class all stopped to help me out of the stairwell. In my "faintness", I remember them fanning me. When I felt a little better, one of them helped me to the staff room nearby (Thank God) an...

TDT's newest identity

Winnie the Pooh bottles! 1 for each of us. Bought by Tina and I when we were out "shopping" for our dinner last night. Aren't they cute?! Anyhow, Tina and I were determined to get the bottles, and we just knew deep down in our hearts that Jien NEEDED a bottle like that as well. SO. We bought one for ourselves and shared another for dear Jien. Here are other photos we took with our TDT bottles and TDT hairbands... (WARNING: These photos are HILARIOUS. I burst out into laughter when I saw the last 2, my parents thought I'd lost my sanity) Pose 1 Candid shot! Pose 2! I couldn't help but laugh RIGHT OUT LOUD at Jien! FINALLY. IN CONCLUSION. TO CONCLUDE. One-Third! P.S. Tina and I took down our lit board today. All our hard work. :(

Da Chang Jin - Jewel in the Palace

This Korean drama serial has been showing on SCV Channel 55. When I first heard about it from an ex-MG friend, I thought it would be rather boring because she forgot to inform me that there was a MALE hottie in the show who would play the love interest of the female lead in this show. The love interest aka Hottie (Not in this pose, though) It came to a point where I really couldn't wait for SCV to slowly show all 70 episodes, so I spent money on BUYING the whole set for myself. I bought it from TS at $79 for all 3 parts of the drama serial. The 3 covers for each part of the VCD set I bought from TS I fast forward through many many MANY episodes and finally finished it TODAY. What an achievement right? :) I highly recommend people to watch the last 10 episodes of this show, especially if you just want to see more romantic scenes between the 2 leads. This is the couple. They are really sweet to each other in the show. Although, one observation (SPOILER ALERT), they hug and hold hands...

Happy National Day!

Not only did I watch "Bewitched" (Not fantastic show, should just wait to rent the vcd when it is released if you haven't managed to catch this show yet) with my cell group, there was the church-wide bbq! The top view of all the bbq pits, about 90 in all. COOL EH?! This is the second time we're having this major event of having all the cell groups in church coming together to have a bbq. In order not to miss the parade, the church would put up a wide screen and project the parade for us to watch as we eat. This year, they used 4 plasma wide screen tvs with a FANTASTIC sound system! But this time around, I ate and played more than watched the parade. I think I'm going to have to record the repeat of the National Day Parade so that I can watch the nice parts that I missed, ESPECIALLY the marching in and out of the MEN IN UNIFORM. Whoo! ;) It DEFINITELY was one FUN day.
