Reunion with One Third

Image
After a loooooooooooong time, One-Third managed to set a date to meet up, which was yesterday. Pity Eugene couldn't join us because he had to be at worship practice. Jien and Tina were too busy to join us too. BUT, Huang Yi joined us! It has been at least 2 years since I met Huang Yi "in the flesh" (since seeing her on photos on social media doesn't count). We met at a place called Anthesis Cafe and Bakery. It's not the most convenient place to get to via public transport. Even with a car, it can be a bit tricky to find parking spaces. But I got there anyway after taking a train to Clarke Quay and having a riverside walk for about 15-20 minutes in the humid, hot and simply oppressive weather. I had their (giant) pegasus meal and it was REALLY yummy, and, of course, way too much for me. But I loved everything about it, except the (raw) salad. But everybody helped me finish it and I was most satisfied! It was a great pity that I had to leave the earlies...

Flashback to 11.09.13: One Third goes to BKK!

Image
We always talk about going overseas together. It finally materialised when about half of One-Third went to Bangkok in September this year. Julie, Bella, Sheryl, myself and Eugene flew over to Bangkok to meet Andrew, who has been working there for the past few months. On 11.09.13, I went to work in the morning. Then dad was sooooo nice to fetch me and Eugene to the airport for our afternoon flight. Hungry, and craving for Burger King, we had lunch at Burger King! I was SUPER happy to satisfy my craving of mushroom swiss burger and taro pie from Burger King. To me, it was a GOOD start to the trip!:) After we checked in to First House Hotel, we took the train and then the ferry to Asiatique. It started raining VERY heavily as we were queueing for the ferry to Asiatique. By the time we boarded the ferry, we were wet because we had to run to the ferry from the sheltered area. Once off the ferry, we then had to run a bit more to find shelter, and finally decide...

My Birthday in 2012 (Part 1)

Image
My birthday was the day before a public holiday, so I had the entire weekend to celebrate it with family and friends. It was nice to meet up with friends again, but I was struggling with what I call "birthday blues" - hard to believe, too difficult to explain - that my appetite really took a turn for the worse and even though I really wanted to enjoy all the good food I was having with my family and friends, I just couldn't stomach much without feeling extremely uncomfortable afterwards. Anyway. Here I go doing a record-keeping of my birthday this year. This is only Part 1 as I'm missing photos that are stored in my dad's camera and I haven't gotten them from him yet. 31 March, Saturday I choped as many One-Thirders as I could a few weeks in advance, but still didn't manage to get full attendance - we were missing Jien and Tina, yet again:( For dinner, Julie, myself, Andrew and Sheryl met first. We ended up eating at this Korean restaurant at Orchar...

17 July 2011: One-Third Meetup

Image
Sunday was a hectic day for me. I was running around church asking random people if they wanted to write birthday notes to uncle Daniel, then running around again finding these random people for the written birthday notes to pass to uncle Daniel before he left church. Then I rushed home, dropped off my stuff, checked on my dog, and rushed down to the eM cafe at the Gallery Hotel to meet the One-Thirders, something I really looked forward to doing! Getting there at 2-ish, I didn't feel hungry at all but just ordered this mini burgers with fries: The 2 mini burgers looked so cute! And the fries were just nice, in that they were not soggy (because I prefer crispier fries) and the salty-ness was just right for me. Oh and I took the second photo on the right with my phone in it so that, just maybe, you can have a better idea of the size of the burgers. We actually sat there until 7-ish! Bella looked so comfortable in her seat, when she was either sitting cross-legged in her seat...

One-Third: Celebrating Daniel's birthday

Image
On Saturday (12 March), One-Third met for breakfast at Jones the Grocer's at Dempsey Hill. It was a meal specially to celebrate Daniel's birthday. It was also a chance for us to meet Willis on his short visit here to Singapore. Left: I'm not sure why Jien didn't want to smile... Right: All three of them were raising their hands to make it more obvious to the waiters and waitresses that we wanted to order. YUMMY FOOD! Left: Coconut pancakes with mango - Eugene ordered it. It comes with Vanilla ice-cream as well, but he asked that they not put the ice-cream because it feels weird eating ice-cream for breakfast. Right: My English breakfast! YUMYUM. Eugene ate half of what you see on the plate though because I just couldn't finish it. But I thoroughly enjoyed myself eating it. It's been awhile since I hate a traditional English breakfast. Sigh, at this, I start to miss the Saturday brunches in Notts Uni's catered halls. We had a great time! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANIEL...
