Part B Examination Results - The One Time I Can Confidently Show Off Like This!

Image
My results for my final Law Part B exams were emailed to me at 12:20pm today. It was the most amazing thing ever to not only see all the "pass" words, but that one longer word staring back at me, that amazing "distinction". It's the most amazing thing for me because I never thought I could ever get a distinction for a Law exam. I was always happy enough with passing and doing adequately well. THANK YOU GOD FOR THIS: I think now is the EASIEST time to say this: It's DEFINITELY the year of the Lord's favour!!!:D

POST EXAMS ACTIVITIES #1: Bangkok!

Image
My last paper was on the fateful day of Friday, 9 December 2011 . I met Kah Wan and Eliz for lunch at the Purple Market. It was a significant event for me because lunch on weekdays for the past 5 weeks or so were always at home, because studying for exams meant I should save time and just have lunch at home. BUT, ON FRIDAY, I COULD GO OUT FOR LUNCH. Why? BECAUSE EXAMS ARE O-V-E-R. WHOO! Kah Wan dropped by after lunch to have a look at General, since the last time he saw General was quite a few months ago. He tried to trick General into thinking that he had thrown his cap, so that General would go running after the cap when actually Kah Wan had only made the motion of throwing and tried to hide the cap behind him. General would not be tricked! So I come home, take a photo of all my exam materials, with Hippo sitting on top, smiling triumphantly at me because the only thing I need to do with them now, is to figure out a way to store them or to get rid of them. And I smile back tr...

Tomorrow: Exam No. 2 of 7

My first exam yesterday, Civil Litigation Procedure, was alright. The question was relatively straightforward, but ridiculously long. All of us were scribbling away furiously because there were just too many issues to tackle in the 2 hours given to us. I should be able to pass this paper, which is really good enough already, since I'm assessed on a pass-fail-distinction basis. Tomorrow, the Part B Exams continue. The second paper: Family Law Practice. At 10am. And we are all boxed up! God, please let everything go well tomorrow! Especially when I have to call a cab to get to the exam venue!

The End Begins

Tomorrow, I begin the Part B Exams. The first paper: Civil Litigation Procedure. At 10am. I am ready (for the Civil Litigation Procedure exam)! Just look at how I've packed it all into my 'box'! BRING IT ON. (Not liking the exam venue though... Victoria School... Sigh, if only it was somewhere more central!)

Birthdays and Parties

I finished my fourth exam today, out of the five exams I need to do for Bar A. The fifth, final, last one is on Friday - Company Law... Yikes. Anyway, because my brain is pretty much 'fried' from today's exam, I have decided to give myself a (rather undeserved if you ask me) break. Tomorrow, I start the final sprint to the last exam, and freedom from exams! I've celebrated a few birthdays in the past few weeks. On 23 October, it was my father's birthday. We usually make it a point to eat dinner at a restaurant of the birthday boy/girl's choice. When it is my dad's birthday, it is most definitely an Indian restaurant. However, this year, we had a simple 'takeout' dinner at home. The proper Indian birthday family dinner has been postponed. But I'm sure it will take place before the year ends. I thank God for blessing me with the most wonderful father I respect and love:) On 5 November, it was a public holiday - Deepavali. My parents had an 'Ope...

Learn with me: Res Gestae

So I've got two exams down - land law and constitutional law. Today, I've criminal law. Wednesday, I've evidence law. Friday, I've company law. Then, I fully intend to become a couch-potato-homebody-slacker. On my mealtime breaks I have been listing out drama serials, Japanese and Korean ones, to watch after my exams are over - CAN'T WAIT. ANYWAY, I'm now working on my exam notes for Wednesday's evidence law paper. And I think it's time you learn something with me, since you're reading my blog. The Latin term: Res Gestae This is what the legal dictionary has to say about it: '[Latin, Things done.] Secondhand statements considered trustworthy for the purpose of admission as evidence in a lawsuit when repeated by a witness because they were made spontaneously and concurrently with an event. Res gestae describes a common-law doctrine governing testimony. Under the Hearsay rule, a court normally refuses to admit as evidence statements that a witness...

My parents in Nottingham

My parents flew over to the UK from Germany on Monday. They stayed with me and hz for two nights, and will be taking the 10pm flight back to Singapore from London today. This also means that I seriously need to start studying like there's no tomorrow. While they've been here, I did study a little bit, and got to complete my essays for real, but I still spent more time slacking and chatting with my parents... and overeating. Oh, and my parents just kept napping and sleeping. They arrived at my house Monday afternoon, about 2pm. Immediately, they dropped off their stuff and we walked into Beeston for a really late lunch. It was good Thai food at the Thai restaurant opposite Sainsbury's! On the way back home, they pointed out that there was a shop that had a sign stating the surname of my brother's landlord in Kassel, Germany. And they were rather amused by it, so they actually took a photo of the sign... For dinner, we went to Higoi Japanese Restaurant! YUMYUMYUM. I LOVE ...
