Takena no Hana - Just watched Ep 1 and loved it!

Just watched episode 1 of this Japanese drama serial - really love Satomi Ishihara! The lead actor is NOT handsome AT ALL. But I will still watch this drama BECAUSE of the lead actress! Her character in this show is sooo interesting as well. Can't wait to see how the story develops. I'm gonna be excitedly waiting for each new episode every Thursday.

A brief recap of Episode 1 (SPOILER ALERT):

We are introduced to Tsukushima Momo (played by Satomi Ishihara), the eldest daughter of the Tsukushima family. She had registered her marriage to a man named Yoshiike Takuma but found out on their wedding day that he had gotten another girl pregnant and so they did not proceed with their wedding ceremony and he effectively dumped her. Since that day, she lost her sense of smell and taste.

Occasionally over the next few months after the wedding ceremony that did not take place, like a stalker, she would go to where her ex-fiancee was to see him. She was reported for being a stalker and something like a PPO (personal protection order) was brought against her. So in the beginning of the show, we see her being hauled away by the police because she was in violation of the PPO.

After release from the police station, unhappy, she rode her bicycle and was so deep in thought, she discovered to her horror that she was about to ride into another vehicle. She swerved and lost control her bicycle, ending up in a muddy pool of water and causing major damage to her bicycle.

She brings her bicycle in her dirty muddy state to the bicycle store belonging to a shabby-looking guy named Kazama Naoto. She gets to know his friends.

He says some deep-sounding stuff (too "cheem" for me to understand) that allows Momo to feel some release. She got really drunk and ended up sleeping at Naoto's home. The next morning, she wakes up to have breakfast with Naoto and discovers that she got her sense of taste and smell back!!

She goes to her younger sister's rescue at a performance and IS JUST AWESOME:

I've missed out ALOT of details in this summary. Please watch the show yourself if you're liking what you're reading above.

My deepest heartfelt prayer at this time is that this rom-com ENDS SATISFYINGLY WELL.
