The name's Potato, Couch Potato

On this week break in between the traveling I've been doing, it has been a week full of slacking and "nothings". Here are the few activities I was involved in this week: Monday Met a few of the 20-year-olds for lunch at a nearby coffee shop. Initially, I kept whining, asking for an air-conditioned place. Every one just laughed and ignored me though, so I had to content myself with as much wind as possible whether it was the smallest breeze or from the fans stationed around the coffee shop. (We got a very old uncle working in the drink stall of the coffee shop to take this photo for us. He was so cute! He kept thinking that there was a viewfinder on my camera so he put it REEAALLLYY close to his eye, but of course, he couldn't see anything like that since he was supposed to put it AWAY from his face to view the big screen before taking the photo!) After lunch, they came over to my house to play Wii - where the girls beat the guys hands down at fishing! Tuesday Finished...

So I left Nottingham for Singapore on Saturday and arrived home Saturday night. After a 3-day rest, I went on a 3-day mission trip with my dad to Aceh, Indonesia starting Wednesday, 4th June. Tomorrow I will be going to KL, Malaysia with the elders and their families and will be there until next Saturday, 14th June. After about a week's rest, I will then go to Hokkaido for a family holiday and come back early July. Then it's internship time before I go to Hong Kong in the second weekend of September. In the third weekend of September, it is back to the UK for my second year of university. Loads of traveling eh? In the meantime, I will blog as often as I can bring myself to do so.

This is It

My last exam in my first year as an undergraduate is in about 9 hours' time - Contract Law: A friend that I find very difficult to get to know and understand. "Commit your work to the Lord, and then your plans will succeed" -Proverbs 16:3- I'm claiming that with my whole heart and all the faith that I have within me!

Last Weekend in FB, ever.

My last weekend in FB is ending in less than 10 minutes' time - what a sad thought. I had my very last brunch yesterday and took these two photos as a keepsake. The quality and colour of the photographs are really bad because I took them with my not-so-good handphone, what with my forgetting to bring down my camera to take proper shots. Just now, for the very last time, I also had roast chicken for dinner - thank God! Sunday dinners are definitely something I'm not going to miss about FB! Every Sunday night, there will DEFINITELY be roast chicken, with the other choice of something roasted as well, which may be lamb, pork or beef. EVERY SUNDAY IT'S THE SAME THING. No, what I'm really going to miss about the food here in FB is Saturday brunch.

1 more, 1 more

So. My past 2 papers haven't been complete, absolute disasters so I am not feeling all depressed and down-in-the-dumps. My last 3 hour paper, Contract Law, will be on the 27th of May, Tuesday, 9am (UK time. Plus 7 hours for S'pore time). Then it will be time to say goodbye to FB and my hall mates to leave Nottingham for Singapore on the 30th of May, Friday. Time to say goodbye... I'm not looking forward to it. Anyhow, Jolene let me listen to a song by a local artiste 伍家辉 (Wu Jia Hui), and I think he has a really nice voice! The first song I actually heard him sing was 一人一半 (yi ren yi ban). I later found out that he actually wrote a song that was performed by Jerry Yan and he performed it at Esplanade. I watched the clip and I think he did a much better version than Jerry Yan and I would like you to hear the difference with the hope of you agreeing with me. Ok, so here's the one by 伍家辉: Now listen to Jerry Yan's: (YAY FOR LOCAL MUSIC/ARTISTES!)

Seemingly Silly things from case-law for Life Application

1) Contract: Common mistake If you are about to marry someone who has been married before but now is a widow/widower, be sure to check and double-check that that person's spouse is actually dead. In Galloway v. Galloway (1914), the defendant assumed his wife to be dead and married the claimant, who later separated and entered into a deed of separation under which the defendant promised to pay a weekly allowance to the claimant. Then, lo and behold, the defendant discovered that his first wife was still alive and fell into arrears. When the claimant sued to recover the arrears it was held that she couldn't do so because the separation agreement was void on the ground that it was entered into under the common mistake that the parties were, in fact, married. 2) Tort: Defamation If you are going to publish a story in anything that is going to be widely read or circulated, be sure to give your characters the most ridiculous names that are simply out of this world so that there will...

Study Music

To shut out noise from neighbours or people playing football in the field just outside, I've been listening to classical music, or basically music that is instrumental, with no lyrics to it, as I would find myself paying attention to the words of the song playing instead of the words in the book in front of me. This is my favourite at present: It's by Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff and there are three movements to this piano concerto. I first heard this song in the movie "Centrestage", then I heard it recently yet again on the Japanese drama serial "Nodame Cantabile". I hope you take time to download, listen and enjoy it!:)
