8th 'Monthsary' present

Image
On 11 January 2011, Eugene introduced me to this new term, "monthsary". An anniversary is usually annual right? Well, apparently a "monthsary" is monthly. So, every 11th day of the month, it would be our monthsary. For a 8th monthsary present, I went Daiso-shopping and met Eugene's sister to get a cardigan from her on Tuesday, 26 July. The Daiso-shopping was to buy random knick-knacks for him to use over there in Mauritius. The cardigan is for him to use over there for layering purposes because he has been complaining about how cool it is over there. This is the end product: And this is what it looks like when it is closed: This box was posted on Wednesday, 27 July. I'm very thankful for my mum who helped me post it out while I went off for class that afternoon. I was thinking that it would take about 2 weeks to reach him. But it only took 1 week to reach him! So it turned out to be a super early present to him. I'm soooo glad it actually got to...

My parents in Nottingham

Image
My parents flew over to the UK from Germany on Monday. They stayed with me and hz for two nights, and will be taking the 10pm flight back to Singapore from London today. This also means that I seriously need to start studying like there's no tomorrow. While they've been here, I did study a little bit, and got to complete my essays for real, but I still spent more time slacking and chatting with my parents... and overeating. Oh, and my parents just kept napping and sleeping. They arrived at my house Monday afternoon, about 2pm. Immediately, they dropped off their stuff and we walked into Beeston for a really late lunch. It was good Thai food at the Thai restaurant opposite Sainsbury's! On the way back home, they pointed out that there was a shop that had a sign stating the surname of my brother's landlord in Kassel, Germany. And they were rather amused by it, so they actually took a photo of the sign... For dinner, we went to Higoi Japanese Restaurant! YUMYUMYUM. I LOVE ...

Mad Rush To Thursday

Image
Every Thursday, when I reach home from school, I heave a big sigh of relief. Thursday is my 'heaviest' day in school where I have my Mental Health Law and Policy seminar from 11-1, then Japanese from 2-4. It is the seminar preparation that makes me put off most things to Thursday evening. This week's seminar, in particular, has ALOT of reading. I have been losing sleep over the readings, trying to complete as much as possible before the seminar today, but still I went into class feeling completely unprepared. Now that Thursday is over and the weekend is here, I am more relaxed now. And hopefully I can get a little bit more sleep. It doesn't help that Wednesday nights are Small Group Meeting Nights that I have to set aside time for, not only for the meeting itself, but before the meeting as well, to pray and prepare and just think through things. In addition, I have been trying to update my CV as I do up applications for training contracts and the Part A Bar Course and E...

He is My God of Surprises (FREAKING long entry)

Image
It has been a few days since I last blogged, and I apologise for my absence. Many things have happened, and I have been putting off blogging until today, now that my Trusts Law tutorial and Mental Health seminar is over for the week. To the people who have sent me encouraging words as a result of reading my recent entry about how my results received last Thursday were particularly disappointing, thank you. Your encouragement and concern meant the world to me. Well, while the results of the essays are still disappointing, God more than made up for it by the biggest, once-in-a-lifetime surprise on Monday, when I got back my Family Law exam results. So, if you want to read about this surprise, read on until the section on Monday:D First, let me start with my weekend of 'moping', which really wasn't full of moping and negativity. Rather, it was a weekend of overeating and meaningful time spent with friends. And, did I say that I really over ate? I seriously ate ALOTALOT. So, Ly...
